Rydberg Constant from Emission Spectra

This document summarizes an experiment on atomic emission spectra and determination of the Rydberg constant. The experiment involved using a spectroscope to measure the emission spectra of hydrogen and helium gases and comparing the measured wavelengths to calculated values based on the Bohr model of the atom. Tables of data on the measured helium and hydrogen emission spectra are presented. Calculations were done to determine the Rydberg constant and percent errors in the measured wavelengths. The results supported the Bohr model of the atom and an average Rydberg constant was determined within a small percent error.
