Mucha gente piensa que mis trabajos son terrorficos. Personalmente, yo los encuentro hilarantes. Terrorficos para mi son, por ejemplo, los videos de las Spice Girls. El origen de mis ideas est en mis reacciones ante el sonido. Encuentro que el sonido es lo que dispara mi imaginacin. Me pas toda mi infancia tumbado junto a los altavoces con los ojos cerrados, escuchando msica mientras imaginaba cosas, as que casi tengo una biblioteca mental de conexiones entre imgenes y sonidos.
Nacido cerca de Londres y criado en una base militar americana, Cunningham empez a trabajar con slo diecisis aos como experto en efectos especiales. Tras realizar modelos y esculturas para pelculas como Razas de Noche y Alien 3 (en la que se encarg de esculpir el famoso monstruo diseado por HR Giger), su trabajo llam la atencin de toda una leyenda del cine: el mtico Stanley Kubrick. A las rdenes de Kubrick, Cunningham construy durante ao y medio robots para AI, un ambicioso film de ciencia ficcin que el cineasta interrumpi para realizar Eyes Wide Shut, su cinta pstuma. La paralizacin del proyecto supuso el estmulo que el joven necesitaba para abandonar el campo de los efectos especiales y dedicarse por completo a la realizacin de videoclips. En un medio acusado habitualmente de uniformidad esttica, el xito de Cunningham reside en su estilo absolutamente original e inconfundible. Partiendo de unas referencias cinematogrficas y literarias muy reconocibles (Blade Runner, Cronenberg, Lynch) , JG Ballard , el director britnico plasma de manera muy personal toda una serie de obsesiones temticas y plsticas en sus trabajos: atmsferas glidas, paisajes urbanos opresivos, colores fros y formas industriales al servicio de historias que bordean la iconografa de la ciencia ficcin y el cine fantstico, pero que la subvierten a travs de su extrao sentido del humor, y de un distanciamiento de los objetos retratados tpicamente postmodernista. Con una impresionante lista de cortometrajes, performances, spots publicitarios y videoclips para artistas como Aphex Twin, Bjrk o Squarepusher, el realizador, videoartista y msico britnico Chris Cunningham es probablemente uno de los creadores ms influyentes de los ltimos tiempos. Tras su aclamado remix audiovisual para Gil Scott-Heron, presentado en el MoMA el pasado septiembre, Cunningham prosigue en su permanente redefinicin de la esttica oscura y retorcida que ha caracterizado sus trabajos desde el principio. Sus shows en directo son un terremoto audiovisual con recortes de material indito y piezas ajenas remezcladas, con su especial sensibilidad como hilo conductor. Una rareza y un lujo.

Despus de 3 aos con su propio estudio, The Silence, Helio Vega vuelve de nuevo al mundo freelance con +, su nueva reel, que integra trabajos personales, procesos de creacin y piezas acabadas. En esta pieza, se recopilan las escenas ms importantes de su carrera, incluyendo escenas de su ltimo trabajo para Wired Magazine, una de las mejores revistas americanas de negocios, con el vdeo de presentacin de Disruptive by Design, conferencias internacionales que han tenido lugar en Nueva York recientemente y que han contado con ponentes tan importantes como Dick Costolo, CEO de Twitter. + no es un ttulo elegido al azar, por un lado representa de forma matemtica la suma de todas sus experiencias durante los 12 aos de profesin. Por otro lado simboliza de manera conceptual un valor aadido innato en l, imprescindible en cada uno de sus procesos de creacin: la pasin. Sobre Helio: Helio Vega es un Director Creativo y diseador afincado actualmente en Madrid. Su carrera profesional comenz en la agencia de publicidad Zapping mientras terminaba sus estudios de arte y diseo. Despus de varios aos aterriz en Toronto para trabajar en Front o Big studios, que le aportaron la experiencia internacional que le llevara a trabajar hasta hoy con clientes de todo el mundo. Despus de 3 aos con su propio estudio, The Silence, ha vuelto al mundo freelance. Durante sus 12 aos de carrera profesional, Helio ha trabajado para clientes internacionales de renombre mundial como Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Ford, Canal +, MoviStar, Bank Sabadell, y Mtv entre otros. Su trabajo se basa en la transmisin de un concepto emocional a travs de la composicin, el tiempo y el movimiento. Sus reas de desarrollo integran el guin conceptual, creatividad, direccin, motion design y postproduccin. Helio combina su trabajo con su pasin por ensear a futuros diseadoresa travs de su experiencia y actualmente colabora con las escuelas CICE Madrid, IED Madrid y Mr. Marc el School.

About Helio: Helio Vega is Creative Director and Designer based in Madrid. His professional career began at Zapping advertising agency, at the same time, he was completing Arts & Graphic Design studies, and eventually landed him international experience in some studios of Toronto. After working at The Silence (his own studio) for the last 3 years, he is back to freelance Creative Director/Designer. Through his 12 years of work experience Vega has been working for clients around the globe; Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Ford, Canal +, MoviStar, Bank Sabadell, Mtv among others. The base of his work is the transmission of an emotional concept through layers of composition, movement and timing. His knowledge goes trough conceptual script, creativity, direction, motion design and postproduction. Helio combines his work with his passion for teaching motion graphics to new professionals trough his experience. He currently collaborates with CICE Madrid, IED Madrid and Mr. Marcel School.

Casi una isla anclada para usted: Nessebar
Ahora que hemos dejado en manos de Alemania el poder de decidir entre el Bien y el Mal en asuntos econmicos, para huir de la crtica feroz al teutn queremos recordar lo acertados que siempre estn los turistas del pas de Angela Merkel a la hora de colonizar destinos inolvidables. Uno de esos casos es el de la localidad blgara de Nessebar, la Mesembria griega a la que se accede por un istmo mnimo que de romperse un da convertira a la ciudad en un paraje comparable a las islas croatas del Adritico. Nessebar fue isla en su juventud, pero Bulgaria no quiso dejarla a merced de una conexin en transporte martimo y construy para la edad madura de la ciudad del Mar Negro esta lengua de tierra que la conecta con tierra firme.

En sus aos mozos, aquellos de los asentamientos de los imperios, bizantinos, blgaros y otomanos pisaron sus empedrados, trazando el escenario perfecto para que en 1983 fuera declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad. De aquellos tiempos son sus 42 iglesias, algunas de ellas diminutas, capillas con todo el encanto y la emocin que cada uno le ponga a la religiosidad y con las que necesariamente uno se tropieza en esta pequea cajita de msica que es Nessebar, repleta de carteles en alemn, por la predileccin que parecen sentir nuestros vecinos europeos por caminar por estos lares. Para ellos y para usted si lo que le gusta es el chafardeo de un buen mercadillo, en sus estrechas calles se topar con los adminculos ready-made para viajeros: No regrese a casa sin el clsico mantel de estampados blgaros que le recordarn vivamente a los que adornan los mesones castellanos, o si es ms selecto disfrute con el siempre apreciado encaje de bolillos de las hilanderas locales, mientras se asoma a ese oscuro Ponto Euxino como los restos de las murallas tracias, complacindose del sosiego o paladeando el aroma a madera de las casas del llamado renacimiento nacional de hace dos siglos s ya hace dos siglos del XIX- y en las que uno se imagina perfectamente a los oriundos asomndose a los ventanales mientras se oye de fondo el frufr de las enaguas bajo la falda. Nessebar is one of the most ancient towns in Europe, arising more than 3200 years ago. The ancient town is situated on a small peninsula, long 850 m and wide 350 m, linked with the mainland with a narrow isthmus. Nessebar peninsula - The Antic Messambria, called in the Early Middle Age Messemvria and later Nessebar, was settled at the end of the Bronze Age. Ancient Thracian people called it Melsambria, meaning in their language town of Melsas- from the name of the legendary founder of the settlement and Thracian word for town bria. Messambria has had two convenient harbors: northern and southern, where remains and equipments of ancient ships have been founded even nowadays.
Iglesia del Cristo Pantocrtor, Nessebar, Bulgaria Sunny Beach
Un paseo por el tiempo en apenas 31.852 km2 y cuya guinda son las playas de Sunny Beach, eso s, algo ms populosas y con mucho menos encanto, pero donde podr divertirse en sus locales nocturnos hasta altas horas de la madrugada si antes ha picado un cascaval pane (exquisito queso empanado) con una Zagorka (cerveza blgara) bien fra. No se preocupe que no se perder, pero anote en el cuaderno de bitcora la iglesia del Cristo Pantcrator, los frescos de San Stefan con ese olor tan caracterstico de las velas que alumbran los espacios litrgicos ortodoxos, con sus perfiles adelgazados frente a nuestros rollizos cirios pascuales y, claro, asmese a algn molino para percibir las diferencias con los que no lleg a combatir nunca Don Quijote. Si se da prisa quiz llegue para contemplar las crteras que se exhiben en el Museo Arqueolgico de la que llaman la Perla del Mar Negro y a las que puede ponerles acompaamiento musical escuchando las piezas de Luis Paniagua, msico madrileo experto en recrear los sonidos de la antigedad.
