ABSTRACT

The project has been undertaken A study on job satisfaction of employees in Chennai Port Trust, Chennai and thereby to identify the problems and measure to improve the satisfaction level of employees.

The primary objective to study about the job satisfaction of the employees. The secondary objective include whether the personal factors and economic factors affects the job satisfaction. To conduct the study a sample 100 selected in consultation with the internal guide of the company. With help of questionnaire primary data were obtained and through stastical tools like the percentage methods, chi-square analysis and interpretation were carried out and suitable suggesstions were recommended to the company.

This study concentrated on job satisfaction, need and importance and the ways to improve them. This study also measure job satisfaction level of chennai port trust employees.100 employees were taken as sample size for the research. Simple random sampling was used by the researcher for the study. The tools used for the study by the researcher were percentage analysis and chi-square.

Job satisfaction is a set of favourale and unfavourable feelings with which employees view their jobs, more specifically the nature of jobs they do, the quality of supervision they receive, co-worker, pay and perks and promotional avenues. High job satisfaction results in to high work performance, less employee turnover and less absentism. Job satisfaction leads to the effective productivity and employee retention.

The management should encourage individual and reward their personal contribution and achievent rotinely it leads the job satisfaction. Good human relation in the present age demand recognition of the dignity of human life, on the job and off the job, supported by preparation of worker and design of jobs to achieve the best available life of work to the abilities and aspirations of each individual worker. vi
