EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The project work is pursued as a part of MBA summer training at IFTM University, Moradabad. It is undertaken as a traineeship at Tata Chemicals. The project is done under expert supervision and guidance of Mr. Amit Singh (Marketing Manager, Tata Chemicals). The Project is about the study of customer preference towards Tata Chemicals with special reference to Tata Swach (Water Purifier). At Tata Chemicals, initially the trainees were imparted process and product knowledge. They were given sufficient time to know about the products and also about sales and distribution channel. The main aim was to increase sales and for this different ways were tried and implemented. They were provided with database and had to make cold calls from the data. Company activity was also one of the major sources for generating business. Main objective was to know customer preference towards Tata Chemicals with special reference to Tata Swach Water purifier. TATA chemicals recently unveiled a water purifier named, Swach under Rs. 1000/price tag. Given the rural Indias potential and cut throat competition in the purifier market, the affordable Swach manufactured using nanotechnology is sure to create a buzz. Studies have shown that, 75% of the rural population doesnt have access to pure drinking water leading to high incidence of waterborne diseases and the group is aiming to address this issue through TATA Swach. The survey involved gathering wide information about the company, its products, customer satisfaction and impact of various competitive firms on the company. From the information collected, various aspects were identified where the company needs to focus more to improve the efficiency of marketing team of Pureit & Aquaguard products. Secondary data was collected through visiting various web sites, automobile magazines and other reliable sources. Primary data was collected through a wellframed questionnaire; of which later a detailed analysis/ interpretation was done using various statistical I.T. tools like MS Word and MS Excel. On the basis, the secondary data analysis and the extensive analysis of the primary data, interpretations were drawn for the questions and conclusion is drawn.
