Pre-School licences and development in children
Pre-school characters incorporated into toys and everyday activities can be a rewarding way in which to help your childs development. Choosing the correct character with which to do this is key as discussed in a recent report by renowned child psychologist Dr Amanda Gummer (PhD, BA (Hons) PCHE) When licensed products are carefully chosen they encourage development and prolong play by providing children with models to copy which, in turn, provide a launch pad for a childs own imagination. Rather than causing concern for parents, licensed products should be embraced and played with by children to expand their imaginations and develop creativity and social skills We believe that Postman Pat is one of best role models for children of today, and is the perfect person to help pre-schoolers learn in new fun and interesting ways.
Match Postman Pats letters a number game Whats on Pats rounds
Count up Postman Pats letters how many letters are there for each door? Match the colour of the letters to the same coloured door for delivery. This is a fun activity that helps to develop numeracy skills. You could extend this activity by creating letters and post boxes for children to act out a great learning game.
Trace the road of Postman Pats delivery route and discuss what you see. Visit all of the buildings, from the Post Ofce all the way to Ted Glens Garage. This discussion activity aids development of literacy and speaking skills and understanding of the world around us. Why not think about a group walk around your local area to mirror this activity.
