April 10, 2014 Dear Coordinator Applicant: Student Events is delighted at your interest in becoming a part of the 2014-2015

Student Events staff! Through this application process, we hope to find the most motivated and qualified students to serve the Brandeis community through various, innovative programming initiatives. Please take the time review the coordinator position expectations below. Additionally, it is important to realize the time commitment for being a Coordinator. When reviewing applicants, the Director, Executive Director, and Advisor is keeping in mind people who have the availability to make the time for Student Events. Besides availability, we are looking for motivated, excited, creative, dedicated students who are ready to work together as a team to program events that provide an experience at Brandeis like no other. Applicants must be team players with positive attitudes that are willing to represent Brandeis students interests in all event planning. The full application process includes submitting a resume, written responses to the questions, volunteering for the 2014 Springfest, and an interview. Ensure you submit the application as one document, including resume application front page, and questions; we do not need this letter and the description submitted. We suggest consulting with the Hiatt Career Center and reviewing our website (http://studentevents.wordpress.com/) before submitting your application. Additionally, in your application, you will be asked to provide a range of interview availability from Monday, April 28th through Thursday, May 1st. Applications are due by email to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, April 23rd at 12:00pm EST. You will then be contacted via email for an interview, which will take place the following week. MISSION STATEMENT Student Events (SE) is a volunteer student organization that supports the mission of Brandeis University by providing cultural, educational, recreational, and social programs designed for the entire Brandeis community. Through student input and support from the Department of Student Activities, Student Events plans theme weeks, concerts, and a variety of other events throughout the year. As a staff, Student Events combines creativity and energy to enhance the overall Brandeis experience. SE also provides Brandeis students the opportunity to get involved with the Brandeis community on many levels. Student run, all about the fun! DEPARTMENTS WITH COORDINATORS
Entertainment Department: Programs a variety of events including dance parties, novelty events,

Stress busters, hypnotists, and capture the flag.


Concerts Department: Programs major concerts. These include a major fall concert, Springfest,

and other possible smaller concerts, depending on the budget. Social Programs Department: Programs one theme week per semester. These weeks are Louis Louis in the fall and Bronstein in the spring. Each week will be full of unique events that help promote Brandeis spirit. COORDINATORS JOB DESCRIPTIONS Note: This is a general description for all Coordinators. Directors have specific requirements depending on the person and/or position. ! Coordinate a specific aspect of your departments event(s), as determined by the director Contact vendors to ensure a diverse array of activities and events are planned, as needed Maintain two (2) office hours per week Attend the following meetings: General Board & Committee Maintain a committee & enable members to have an active role Attend Fall & Winter Executive Board trainings Meet the Student Events attendance policy for events and meetings Promote your event, and oversee/develop the publicity campaign Serve as a member of the Concert volunteer crew, if needed, and attend the Fall, Winter, and Spring concert events Complete post-event evaluations within one (1) week of the event Return phone calls and emails to students, administrators, and agents, as needed Work with Conference and Events and other campus constituencies to book spaces, request needs, and arrange the technical setup for events Initiate co-sponsorships with other organizations Other duties as assigned 4
