OBJECTIVES:
1. Use language for interpersonal purposes.
2. Ask questions and make statements with correct intonation, word stress and
sentence rhythm.

ASSIGNMENT 1 : ROLE PLAY CUSTOMER SERVICE
[ 10 marks ]

2. Basic Story
Pn. Salmah buys an electric kettle from Titan Department Store. She brings it
home and takes it out of the box. She fills it with water from the tap and plugs in
the kettle. Then she switches it on. It is 4.50 p.m. After 5 minutes, the water is not
hot. She tries again but after waiting for 20 minutes, the water is still not hot. She
unplugs it and takes it back to the customer service at the store the next day. The
staff at the counter asked her a few questions and tested the kettle. After verifying
that it is faulty , he gives her a replacement at no cost.

1. Work in pairs.
2. Write out the dialogue between Pn. Salmah and the customer service staff.
3. Role play the scene

ASSIGNMENT 2 : MOCK JOB INTERVIEW


[ 20 marks ]
Instructions:
1. Look into newspapers and select a job that you can apply for and interested in.
2. Note down the description
3. Get students to prepare for their interviews by informing them:
- the criteria for the position
- how much money do you want to pay
- overtime and benefits
- working hours
- other relevant information
4. Ask students to be ready to
- tell about their personal identification
- tell their strengths, best skills
- tell their biggest weakness
- tell their career goals, future plan
- advertise to sell themselves
- tell their salary expectation
5. Students can take turns practising in pairs.
6. Teacher will be interviewing the students in groups based on the positions they
apply for.

for students and lecturer.
