Section J - Factory Testing and Inspection: Hla96/Besut/Spec/Sj-Fti

The document outlines requirements for factory testing and inspection of booster pumpsets. It states that pumpsets must be tested at the manufacturer's site to ensure they meet design specifications and performance guarantees provided by the contractor. Representatives from the government, customer, and contractor must witness the testing. Prior to testing, the contractor must submit testing procedures for approval. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary equipment and meeting electrical testing requirements. Pump performance will be calculated based on parameters like head, losses, power consumption, and output. Pumps that fail to meet guarantees for power consumption or are below 3.5% of guaranteed output will be rejected.

SECTION J - FACTORY TESTING AND INSPECTION

1.0

General Requirement
The Contract includes the factory testing and inspection of the booster pumpsets.
They shall be tested at the Manufacturers site for their performance complying to
design specification stipulated.
It shall be witnessed by representatives, one each from the Government, the S.O.
and the Contractor.
Prior to factory test, the tenderer shall submit testing procedure to S.O. for
approval.
The Contract include the supply of labour, material and all necessary tests kits,
gauges, flow measuring devices etc. to carry out the capacity test.
The testing of the electric motor for the pumpset shall also comply with the
Specification for Electrical Installation and herein stated.

2.0

Guarantees
The guarantees and the particulars given by the Contractor in their tender
document shall be binding under the Contract.
The fulfillment of the guarantees shall be verified at the official trial on the site as
specified and shall be accordance with B.S. 5316 Part I (1976).
For the purpose of the Specification the following definition of parameters shall
apply in the calculation of pumping unit performance :(a)

Head and Losses

i)

Static Head. The difference between the free water surface levels on the
suction and delivery sides of the pump.

ii)

External Friction Head. The head required to overcome the friction external
to the works.

iii)

Plant Losses. The friction losses in all pipework, valves, reflux valves,
pump inlet and all plant within the limits of the works.

iv)

Velocity Head. The head required to cause the water to flow at a given
velocity when freely falling due to gravity.

v)
vi)

Total Head. The sum of ( i ), ( ii ), ( iii ) and ( iv ).

Net Effective Lift. The sum of ( i ) and ( ii ).

Electrical power consumption KW Input To The Pump Motor ,

Water Power In KW

Where,
Water Power (WP) in KW 9.81 x Pump Output (L/S) x Total Head (m)

Total Head as defined in (a) above.
Pump Output Volume of water pumped as measured in litres per second by
volumetric measurement at the Treatment Works.
KW Input to motor power consumed by the motor as measured by a
Kilowatt meter.
The Contractor shall guarantee the electrical power consumption KW/WP for each
pumping unit when operating at duty point as specified.
If at the manufacturers works any pumping unit to be supplied under the Contract
fails to meet the guaranteed electrical power consumption KW/WP or if the
measured pump output is lower than the tolerance limit of 3.5% below the
guaranteed output, the pump shall be rejected.
