In the light of todays economy the housing market is on the rise. The cost of buying or
renting a house is one of the leading factors when making the decision on where to live.
Youre relocating to the Philadelphia area. You have narrowed your choices of living to be either
Old City Philadelphia or Chestnut Hill Philadelphia. Which one would you choose?
Chestnut Hill Philadelphia and Old City Philadelphia are both historical landmarks within
the city of Philadelphia. The housing in Old City can be expensive and offers little-living space,
versus the house in Chestnut Hill. According to Zillow.com, the cost of this house at 104
Delancey Street in Old City, for example, has five baths at 5,100 square feet is on sale
$1,850,000 Built in 1766 this house has a one car garage.To Rent, an Apartment in Old City for
rent at 117 Chestnut Street rents for $2,210/a month has two bedrooms two baths and the square
feet is 1,420.
There is no parking included. You will be issued a $500 Amex card for parking this
apartment has a private elevator with opposite entries that opens to the lot and hallway. Chestnut
Hill Houses is expensive as well as Old City and they offer more space, for example, a five
bedroom house has four baths with 4,125 square feet. Built in 1884 has parking for two cars and

have to pay for parking most of the time, or a parking permit to park on the street if you do not
have a garage. Some apartment owner offers vouchers for parking which is included in the rent.
Old City and Chestnut Hill are both conveniently accessible to public transportation. There are
the regional rails (commuter rails) Buses, (Septa) and the Trolley (tram).
The means of traveling from the suburbs to the urban part of the city can be timeconsuming. Public transportation is cheaper and easy way to get around for sightseeing. Driving
can be costly but well worth the money. Travel can make you tired. If you're going to be out with
children shopping and sightseeing then driving is the way to go. Handling baggage for a day trip
to the city is not the best idea with little ones. There is a lot to see and do in Old City or Chestnut
Hill.
When considering where to live one's home location has an effect on their way of life. Some
people who choose not to live in an urban atmosphere often seek suburban lifestyles. Urban
living and suburban living both have advantages and disadvantages and these characteristic are
what significantly influence people decision about where to live other than money. Some may be
attracted to the greenery and land surrounding their homes and the family atmosphere. Living in
the suburb is quiet most of the time. Living in Chestnut Hill area is a little different, it has
nightlife.

that are in walking distance. You have the quiet family friendly atmosphere day and night.
Chestnut Hill is one of the citys Oldest Neighborhood. During the American
Revolutionary war era (late 18th Century) the area was one of the vacation spots in the summer
do to it higher elevation. Chestnut Hill became a part of Philadelphia in 1854 as a part of the Act
of Consolidation. The neighborhood still contains a wide variety of 19th and the early 20th
century residential building by many prominent Philadelphia architects.

century. Known as the Old City District it occupies several blocks between Front and Sixth
Streets, bounded by Vine Street to the north and Walnut Street to the South. The Almanac and
Citizen gives a larger set of boundaries to the old City District. People of all ages and
nationalities visit the historic district daily.
One of the oldest continually inhabited streets in America. Home to more than 3,000
people since 1702 the streets today hold 32 houses built in 1728 and 1836.

As you can see living in the city has its advantages and disadvantage .Old City for
example you have less square footage in your living space Then Chestnut Hill.
In Old City compared to Chestnut Hill. You can rent a house in Chestnut Hill that is the
same price as an apartment in Old City.My choice would be Chestnut Hill over Old City. What
Choice Would you make?
