Performed a full spectrum of public affairs tasks to local, national and military
audiences.

Conducted interviews, data and statistical research, took supporting photography


and writing of numerous articles published in the weekly base newspaper to
include reviewing and editing material for style and clarity for compliance with
security, accuracy, propriety and policy.

Wrote, produced and broadcasted base military news, radio and television
programs.

Provided support and guidance for numerous media queries and community
inquiries, to include requests for installation equipment, facilities and/or
personnel support.

Escorted media and wrote daily press releases, correspondence and letters for
the Public Affairs Officer and senior staff to include writing speeches and news
releases.

Developed a new base community relations program to help bridge the gap
between the military community and the local civilian community and brought in
Marines to mentor students and children in the local community.

Conducted training classes to pre-deploying units on dealing with the media


overseas, addressing the press and security/information issues.

Performed the duties of the editor on occasion for the Observation Post, the
weekly newspaper for the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Gathering,
editing and proofreading of material, newspaper layout and design and use of
Quark Express and other publishing programs.

Directly supported the Public Affairs Officer and PAO senior staff as well as the
Commanding General and Staff.

Photographed numerous events and functions as well as accompanying the


Base Commanding General on training exercises and special events.

Excellent public speaker. Narrated numerous military and public events and
ceremonies, such as, parades, morning colors, retirements, changes of
command, city parades and local events.
