Female Symbol: History & Significance

The document discusses the female symbol ♀, its origins and evolving meanings over time. It began as an astrological symbol representing the planet Venus dating back to the Renaissance. Today it denotes feminism and womanhood, representing qualities traditionally associated with women like sensitivity and caring. However, the document questions the accuracy of some of these assumed associations for both women and men. While symbols can perpetuate myths, in reality every person's strengths and capabilities vary individually rather than by gender alone. The question is posed of how symbols may be used or understood further in the distant future.

Female sign its a gender sign derived from astrological symbols, denoting the

classical planet Venus. Also female sign represents feminism in philosophy and
sociology. This symbol has been in use since the Renaissance also denoting
elements in alchemy, specifically the metal copper. Female sign is also
believed by some to represent a hand mirror, with the top half of the symbol
representing the actual mirror, and the bottom half representing the handle of the
mirror. It was first used to denote the effective gender of plants by Carolus
Linnaeus in 1751.
Today, it is mostly used to denote that we are actually talking about women and
what they represent. It is said that this symbol means that women are sensitive,
caring, and loving. We all wonder if this is the truth. These days the symbol for
the female gender is a representation of feminism, the pride in being a woman,
and the pride in sisterhood. Aso, most people agree nowadays that women are
more independent than ever. They have shown tot he world that being a woman
in this cruel society actually means something brave and fearless. We have many
woman who proved to be great scientists, novelists, etc. Although many people
see weakness in women, they are nothing but weak.
On the other hand, there is another symbol, that of Mars, representing men. The
shape of the Mars symbol has been likened to an iron-tipped spear (i.e. a weapon
mainly used by men). All of this would mean that when we talk about men, we
are talking about their fearlessness, ability to protect everyone and also being
capable of experiencing love. I think most of us wouldn't agree to this one. In
my personal opinion, there are many things that these symbols represent that are
actually only myths. We all know that every person is for himself. When I say
myths, I refer to some men who are much weaker than women would ever be.
Imagine only having to work in order to have anough money for your family.
Oh, how hard that is for them. I think we should give them a break. Just kidding.
In my opinion, anything they do, can't be compared to women and what they
have to go through every day. They take care of their children, cook, clean
around the house, make sure everything is in the right order, and at the same
time, they work and think about their careers. The right question here is : Who is
stronger, women or men? I think you all know my answer.
It makes me wonder, though, what all these symbols will mean, how theyll be
used, or if they will even exist in another 2500 years. That is a question I won't
be able to answer, but I hope someone will.
