Museum Rules and Regulations
Please Review the Following Information before Your Scheduled Visit to the Museum
Where do I park?
Buses may park on Sixth Street (one block north of Wilshire Boulevard) or on Curson
Avenue, on the eastern border of Hancock Park. Before beginning your tour, please
communicate with your driver where you will meet after your tour has concluded. If
you carpool, metered parking is available on surrounding streets (be sure to check
signs for restrictions), or you may use the Sixth Street garage. All-day parking is
available for ten dollars and may be pre-paid at the box office. All book bags,
backpacks, purses, and lunch bags must be left on the bus or in the car. Large bags
and backpacks are not permitted in the galleries.
Where do I check in?
Please check in with the security guard at the BP Grand Entrance off Wilshire Blvd
and Ogden Ave. You will meet your docents in front of the outdoor installation Urban
Light. Please arrive fifteen minutes before the tour is scheduled to begin. The
museum is closed to the public until noon, and you may not enter the galleries
without a docent until that time
How many chaperones should I bring?
The museum requires one chaperone per every ten students. Classes may not bring
more than one chaperone for every five students. Chaperones are responsible for
students' conduct and adherence to the rules for appropriate behavior in the
galleries. Failure to properly supervise your students may result in your group being
asked to leave the museum.
What should my students bring?
Students do not need to bring anything as LACMA docents will provide all necessary
supplies. Students' belongings should be left on the bus, or they will be checked upon
arrival. Please avoid bringing any valuable items to the Museum.
Museum Rules and Regulations
Where can I eat my lunch?
Unfortunately, the Museum does not have lunchroom facilities for students. Classes
may eat in the BP Grand Entrance, the LA Times Central Court or in the park.
Although students may purchase food from the caf, seating is not permitted.
Students may bring sack lunches, or box lunches may be ordered from the caf.
Orders must be placed one week before your arrival. Please contact the Plaza Caf at
323-857-4797.
What happens if I am late?
If your groups arrive late, your program will be shortened accordingly, finishing at
the originally designated time. Groups more than thirty minutes late will be canceled
and may enter the museum during public hours (12 pm on weekdays) for a selfguided visit.
What if I need to cancel my tour?
The museum strongly encourages teachers to avoid canceling tours. However, in the
event of cancellation, please contact
[email protected] or call 323 857-6109 as
soon as possible. Please note that a school tour will only be rescheduled once.
What if I want more information about my tour?
You can contact
[email protected] or call 323 857-6108 at any time. Please note
that you may experience a delay in a return call when leaving a voice message.
