Dhanbad Project Insights and Recommendations

The document discusses learnings from various projects including code of practice, contract documents, ISO documents, SAP systems, and liaison procedures. It then summarizes site visits and observations to different locations, noting issues like pressure to lay pipes through ducts instead of open spaces, rusty downstream pipes, improper electrical sockets, and downstream work not meeting standards. Finally, it provides 16 suggestions such as conducting bidding during rainy months, establishing standard contract durations and prices, limiting contractors to 4 areas, providing training to employees, and improving cleanliness and organization at offices.

SUGGESTIONS
1) Bidding process and contract document can be done in the Rainy months
ie June, July & August.
2) Contract period can be for 30 months and keeping 3 months of grace period.
3) Spare contract can be kept which shall provide help when contractors are
under performing like Archon and Palak.
4) Standard base price can be placed in tender documents with profit say 15%
which shall remove AHR & ALR.
5) Maximum of 4 DRS should be given to one contractor. And at sensitive
areas 1 AIC for 1 DRS if possible.
6) Contract should be open area contract to some extent like working at
some other DRS area the procedure should be easy and fast.
7) Less Pressure on AIC’s (we should make them responsible and not
just pressurizing which can make them prone to committing mistakes)
8) Rotation of AIC’s to other departments say on every 3yrs.
9) Training can be given to employees on MS-OFFICE.
10) Files at offices need to be more organized. Cupboards with proper
labels can be provided.
11) Changes in testing procedures needs to be demonstrated to all contractors
on site as early as possible when updation is done.
12) During rainy season some innovative plans can be kept for engineers more
often like that of CP training.
13) Some easy software can be created for LP, GI, Cu diagrams.
14) Marketing team can come up with some Ads stating the importance
of safety like riser being in open space and not through ducts or conceal
to avoid customers and builders pressurizing for aesthetic looks.
15) Biscuits can be provided along with tea for employees. (People have 4 cups
a day which is not so good having just tea)
16) Toilets at some places need to be clean. (Solitaire has common entry
for gents and ladies)
