shot.

I will be able to apply

badminton specific terminology

I will be able to work together

with classmates and be able to
play a self-refed game with little
teacher involvement.

Scoring

Every time you win a rally, you

get a point. Starting from zero,
the first person to reach 21
points wins the game. In class
we will be playing with a time
limit decided by the teacher
depending on the size of the
class and how quickly the
activities are all completed.
At the start of the game, when
the score is 00, the serving pair
choose who serves for the first
rally, and the receiving pair
choose who receives.

Rules

Rules of badminton
The first serve is always
on the right side
followed by the left side.
Also known as the even
service court (right) and
odd service courts (left).
Whenever the serving
side wins a rally, the
same person serves again
(but from the other
service court). The serve
does not alternate
between the partners: it
stays with one person,
until the opponents win a
rally and get the serve
The partner not serving
may stand anywhere on
the court
Receivers do not change
service courts, even
when the service
changes sides
When you win back the
serve, the new server is
whoever wasnt serving
last time.
You must hit the shuttle
once only before it goes
over the net (even in
doubles). In this respect,
badminton is not like
volleyball, where
multiple players can
touch the ball before
sending it back over the
net.

Serve

Serve must be in an
upward direction with an
underarm hitting action.
At contact with the
shuttle it must be below
the waist
In tournament
badminton there are no
faults but for class we
will modify to allow for
a fault
