ELEMENTS REQUIRED:
Students will learn the difference between a rhyming word family and rhyming words
Objective Students will learn that rhyming words sound alike.
Students will learn that rhyming words and rhyming word family has the same ending sound
Anticipatory Set
Students will participate in a scavenger hunt of rhyming words.
Teacher will remind students that a rhyming word family have same ending sounds, example:
cat and hat
Teach Lesson / Teacher will remind student that rhyming words sound alike, example: school and rule
Model Teacher will demonstrate 5 cards or more of rhyming words
Teacher will present one word at a time and the student will provide a rhyming word for the
given word cards.
Guided Practice
Teacher and students will create rhyming words from words off the word wall
Independent Students will color words that rhymes with the given pictures
Practice Students will draw a line to the matching rhyming pictures
Students will connect picture word puzzles that matches
Allow students to assess their own learning.
