Razonamiento Matemático en Estudiantes

This thesis examines the level of mathematical reasoning of students at a school in Cumba, Peru. It used a test of mathematical reasoning developed by the researchers to assess 29 sixth grade students. The results found that 59% of students were at a beginning level, 24% at a processing level, and 17% at an achievement level, indicating most students struggle with mentally demanding problems requiring reasoning and relationship building. It concludes students need to develop stronger analysis and problem-solving skills, as many cannot understand or represent problems mentally and lack solution strategies.

ABSTRACT

The realized investigation had as general aim determine the level of

mathematical reasoning of the students of 6to degree of the I.E. N ° 16245 - Cumba
- Utcubamba - The Amazon, 2014, aim that, with the obtained results, gives itself
reached.

The study was of descriptive character and his not experimental design
corresponding to the descriptive simple one. For his development the technical test
was applied for the compilation of information, with his instrument test on
mathematical reasoning elaborated by the equipment of investigators, validated by
experts' judgment, submitted to the test of reliability by Alpha Cronbach's and
applied to a sample of 29 students of 6to degree of the I.E. N ° 16245 - Cumba; the
quiet information was processed and analyzed, tables and graphs being elaborated,
resting on the descriptive statistics.

At the conclusion of the study the results indicate that 59 % of students is in a

level of beginning, 24 % in the process level and 17 % in the level of achievement.
This information allows to conclude that the majority of students has difficulty to
solve problems that need mental agility, reasoning, to extract conclusions and to do
relations; in general, it is necessary to them to develop his capacity of analysis and
of resolution of problems; it is possible because they do not manage to understand
the problem and much less they do not manage to represent it mentally in addition
they do not possess strategies of solution. Therefore, they are not capable of
realizing logical, mathematical inferences, of effecting operations of abstraction and
of solving problems of any type.
