Lynx
Appearance
The Canadian lynx has very tick, grey fur
with black spots.
Its tail is short with a black tip on his end.
It has a pointed, beard-like ruff , long legs
with big paws.
Lynx paws work like snowshoes and also
for distributing lynx’s weight, helping it
move in the snow.
Habitat
• The Canadian lynx is usually located in boreal forests, especially
where snowshoe hare [Lynx’s primary food] density is high, but
sometimes they may also be found in open forests and rocky areas.

Life Cycle
During mating season the male will follow
the female. Lynx mate between February and
March. After 2 months the female will give
birth between one and six kittens.
Diet
About 75% of the Lynx’s diet is made of
snowshoe hare. They also eat birds, carrion,
and sometimes larger animals like deer and
caribou. Adult Lynx are solitary hunters, but
sometimes the mother and her baby lynx will
hunt together.
