Enhancing Canvas Use in SHS Education

This study aims to improve teachers' and students' use of the Canvas learning management system at Jose Rizal University's Senior High School division. Specifically, the study seeks to understand the challenges teachers and students face in using Canvas, identify the major causes of these challenges, and design a program to address the challenges to make Canvas a more effective tool for teaching and learning. The research questions ask about the challenges experienced by teachers in delivering content and by students in learning content, as well as the causes of these shared challenges.

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to improve teachers’ and students’ use of Canvas in teaching and learning
curricular competencies needed for core and applied subjects in Senior High School division of
Jose Rizal University.

Research Questions

Specifically, this study seeks to provide answers to the following research questions:

1. what challenges do teachers experience in using Canvas as a blended learning tool to


effectively deliver learning competencies of the core and applied subjects in Senior High
School?;
2. what challenges do students experience in using Canvas as a blended learning tool to
effectively learn learning competencies of the core and applied subjects in Senior High
School? ;
3. what are the major causes of these challenges shared by both teachers and students in
using Canvas as a blended learning tool?; and
4. what program can be designed, implemented and tested to improve teachers’ and
students’ use of Canvas for effective teaching and learning in Senior High School?
