Automobile Cooling System PDF

The automobile cooling system works to remove excess heat from the engine and maintain an optimal operating temperature. There are two main methods: air cooling and water cooling. Water cooling uses a circulating liquid cooled system with a radiator, thermostat, water pump, hoses and fan to transfer heat from the engine to the air. Proper coolant, such as a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water, is also needed to prevent freezing and achieve the desired operating temperature range. The cooling system keeps engine components from overheating and seizing.
