Preparation of Structural Key Plan

The document provides guidance on preparing a structural key plan based on an architectural plan. A structural key plan should show structural elements like beams, slabs, columns, and foundations with their locations and dimensions. It uses a grid system of vertical and horizontal axes to identify positions. The structural elements are drawn following rules - beams must be below walls and before drops, slabs should form rectangular panels supported on all sides, and columns placed at corners or as indicated in the architectural plan.

PREPARATION OF STRUCTURAL KEY PLAN

PREPARATION OF STRUCTURAL KEY PLAN

LEARNING OUTCOMES
The students should be able to :
• Understand architectural plan
• Proposed structural key plan
Structural Key Plan
1. Plan to show the structural elements and dimensions :
1.1 Beams – location, size
1.2 Slabs – location, thickness and direction of one or two way
slab
1.3 Columns – location, size
1.4 Foundation – location, type of foundation,
2. Plan with vertical and horizontal axes/Gridlines.
Normally horizontal axis is identify using block letter Ⓐ, Ⓑetc. The
intermediate will be identify by B1 , C1 etc. The vertical axis is recognize
using numbers ①, ②,③ etc… and the intermediate using 2a, 2b etc.
3. The structural key plans are drawn based on architectural drawing. Few
guide lines :
3.1 Beams must be drawn under the wall.
3.2 Beams must be drawn before any drop.
3.3 Try to maintain square or rectangular panels of slab. Unless on
special case need to drawn non rectangular slab. Slab must be
supported by beam at all sides.
