Tokyo Tourist Attractions
Tokyo, capital of Japan, with its 13 million inhabitants the most populous place in
the country and one of the largest cities in the world.
Akihabara: It is one of the largest and most colorful places in Japan, there are
shopping centers and the most
visited tourist shops such as
Chuo Dori, the most important
street of Akihabara, in this
neighborhood you will find a
variety of products offered in
your stores. As it is also a very
colorful street since it is the
cradle of manga and everything
related to comics, figures or
costumes.
Harajuku: In addition to being the center of Japanese fashion, it is also the
meeting place of the
most freaky and
colorful characters of
Harajuku. In Tokyo
there are thousands
of followers of the
so-called Cosplay. On
weekends and,
especially on
Sundays, Harajuku
dresses up with an
infinity of colors
showing an incredible street performance, the focal point of the show is the
Jingu-bashi Bridge, right at the exit of JR Harajuku station.
Roppongi: Is the union between Tokyo and the world, besides being the
preferred area to leave,
Roppongi is also the place
chosen to live by most
foreigners, there are western
restaurants such as Hard Rock
Cafe or Toni Romas next to pubs
"Typical Japanese". Roppongi
Hills is a complex of buildings
created in 2003, in its various
buildings there are more than
200 shops, restaurants,
cinemas, offices, homes, hotels and an art gallery with the best viewpoint of
Tokyo.
Culture
The majority of the population
of Tokyo is Buddhist. Hundreds
of Buddhist temples populate
the province, although many of
the inhabitants of Tokyo go to
these temples only in very
special ceremonies such as
weddings and funerals, and
prefer to practice their religious
acts at home. Most people wear
Western clothes in their daily
lives.
Museums
The most important
museum in Japan is the
National Museum of
Tokyo, which is located in
the northeast part of the
Ueno Park. This museum is
administered by the
government of the
country, through the
Agency of Cultural Affairs.
The set of buildings that
make up the museum contains the largest collection of Japanese art in the world.
Typical dishes from Tokyo
After touring the main sites of interest in Tokyo, it is time to stop to taste
traditional Japanese cuisine. One of the main
meals in Japan is that sushi is prepared with
raw fish, although there are also seafood,
vegetables or eggs.
As also the ramen, soup with force noodles,
pieces of pork, nori seaweed, bean sprouts,
boiled egg and other ingredients. You can
choose between several types of broth: miso,
soy, spicy, etc. One of the most consumed beverages in Japan is beer: Kirin,
Sapporo or Yebisu are the three best known brands. You can also find prepared
food in street stalls or on the ground.
Akira Toriyama
Akira Toriyama was born in Nagoya, Japan April 5th of 1995. His life of mangaka
starts with the publication in Shonen Jump of Shueisha in the 90s he became
famous in Japan and
abroad thanks to this work
Dragon Ball reaching an
enormous level of
audience, generating ¡,
massive merchandise like
clothes, video games, toys
of the characters even
villains, etc.
Despite of his fame, Toriyama doesn´t like to expose himself. The occasions that
he can be interviewed and photographed are weird.
