From the previous researches it proved that construction joint in columns of each and every floors
leads to low performance of the structure compared to that to the design performance, the author
focused on the retrofitting of the Beam-column column joint retrofitted with use of polymers like
GFRP, with the use of GFRP the weakness from the joints of the structures like Beam Column joints
can be completely eliminated and the comparison of the performance are made between the retrofitted
and un retrofitted junctions of Beam and Column joints by the use of Cyclic Loading, from the result
of the test shows that retrofitted with GFRP increased the ductility property by 56-144%, improved
the initial stiffness by 26-46 % and increased the capacity of the energy dissipation by 34-118% when
compared the tests to that of joints which are un-retrofitted and by the application of GFRP the
retrofitted specimens was able to restore the capacity of the joint structure similar to the capacities of
monolithic control specimens

The experimental study on the behavior of the RC Beam-Column specimens which are added with
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber reinforced concrete at the regions of joints, the size of the fibers
are of the aspect ratio of 25 and replaced the concrete by 0.5% of its weight utilized in the PFRC mix
which was procured by Hand cutting of post consumer pet bottles, 3 Control Specimen models was
casted for the reference purpose and the subjected to the reverse cyclic loading and specimens of PFRC
type was also casted and they are applied with similar type of cyclic displacements and by comparing
the outcomes, the specimens with PFRC showed the better results of Load resting capacity, damage
tolerance, ductility, damage tolerance and stiffness degradation when compared to that of control
specimen results and PFRC models also showed low damage indices and principal tensile stresses
compared to that of controlled specimens. All the results prove that PET fibers a suitable substitute for
the steel fibers as a discrete reinforcement in structural use
