REFLECTION
Symbols hold messages to us that are important for the next stage of our
individual journeys. Cross (from Latin "crux", a Roman torture device used for
crucifixion) is a geometrical figure consisting of two lines or bars perpendicular to each
other, dividing one or two of the lines in half. The lines usually run vertically and
horizontally. It's one of the most prominent religious signs nowadays. In my artwork, I
chose cross as my liturgical symbol because of so many reasons. Cross symbolizes a
relationship with Jesus and a connection to faith. The cross is meant to symbolize the
sacrifice Jesus made for humanity. His death was meant to take away the sins of the
world. The cross doesn't symbolize anything bad. It symbolizes that even when things
are tough, faith doesn't hinder or disappear. The death of Jesus in cross symbolize his
unconditional love to us.
“If there is cross, there is God”. If you will notice, the vertical symbolizes our
connection to God while the horizontal symbolizes our connection with other people. It
only means that whatever direction that we may take, it will always end up in Him. We
are gathered to proclaim His word and worship Him. God's presence is the birthplace of
confidence. If he is with you, be confident! You will achieve what he asked you to
believe. In God’s presence there is ultimate joy and happiness. Lastly, home is not just
a place where we can rest but it’s about two eyes and one heart. God is our true home
because in Him we can find love. We are not alone in our journey. God walks along with
us in an extraordinary way. His kingdom is the safest place and the His arms welcome
us! Faith moves us to get into position for the Grace that God has already provided. I
guess we move into position because of believing him!
