REFLECTION ON OUTREACH PROGRAM
In my life I've learned that the true happiness comes from giving. Helping others along the way
makes you evaluate who you are. Being able to help is a privilege for us students for it teaches
how to became concerned to those who are in need, it helps us to understand the spirit of
compassion and to share what we have to abolish the selfishness hidden deep within us. As part
of Augustinian institution, we conducted an outreach program at Brgy.97,paraiso street on last
September 29,2019.
Simple program was organized by the responsible students of Bl. Gratia which is us. We brought
prizes, candies, foods and we organize games for the children to enjoy. We also prepared snacks
for them. Aside from that we read a story about Goliath and David. We worked as one for the
success of the activity. The program was started with a prayer, asking God's presence in the said
event. Next is the open remarks who led by some of my classmates. Next is the different games
with so many prizes. Parlor games we prepared were enjoyed by the children of the community
and prizes were given to the winners after each games. and after that is we gave them foods then
we tell them a story.
Food is the basic necessity of everyone. I love children. That is why I and my classmates really
enjoyed the few hours of having feeding program . I realized how an experience could be
extraordinary by simply being with the less fortunate and making them happy even for a while. I
became inspired to persevere more in life so that I can be a big help for the less fortunate. It’s not
my first time joining a Feeding Program. In my days in high school, I always facilitating a
Feeding Program held in our barangay and in our school. Less fortunate children is really close
to my heart because I, myself experience becoming like them, eating once eating non nutritious
foods and not having my money. There is a chance that I need to work, a part time work to
continue my studies . We are lucky because we can eat more than three times a day, we can
study in a good university, we have more money, we can eat whatever we want, we are wearing
a good uniform and we can have what we want. I am lucky because all of these, I can have and I
experience and I can have, but the children in the feeding program cannot have it because there
are not financially capable. Don’t waste your foods or either your money to anything but help
others. I am Very lucky because I can do whatever I want to do. I can eat whatever I want to eat.
Even you, you’re lucky. So we must take care these blessing and share to others. Sharing to
others is the most special things I can do or we can do and feeling of we or I become the
instrument of God to help others people are great. I can feel great and special feelings that even
in a simple means I can help these Children. I’m not considered them as hopeless or helpless
because I consider them as brothers and sister even I don’t know them. So we must take care the
things you have and shared this because this thing is not forever yours.
During our feeding program and little adventure I have learned so many things especially from the
children whom have shared their knowledge to us. It got me to think how lucky we are to have
very giving and forgiving God. Their stories enlightened me and had made me feel really close to
God, He is always there for us especially during the toughest times in our lives. He is always
there to help and give, we just need to ask and when we ask we must ask sincerely with all heart.
We must pray to God always. Thanking him for every blessing He has showered upon us. The
program also made really inspired to help other people, seeing the children smile, touched my
heart. We should help more people especially those who are in need, not just help them
physically but also mentally.
