“Don’t just teach kids to count. Teach them what counts most!

We are calling for class representatives for Junior School Council (JSC).
Student representatives will be involved in:

 The organisation of one out-of-uniform charity day per term.

 The organisation of one house competition per term.
 Support teaching staff in the organisation of additional special events such as Book Week.
 Other events to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
 Sharing upcoming events and information with their peers.
Students can be self-nominated, nominated by a peer, or nominated by a teacher.
JSC representatives must:
 Want to help the school.
 Respect and work collaboratively with others.
 Develop listening and speaking skills.
 Regularly show integrity and be an upstanding role model to other students.
 Be loud and proud when voicing ideas and opinions; both your own and that of your peers.
 Be prepared to make a commitment to the JSC and sacrifice breaks for meetings.
There will be ONE JSC representative from all classes, from Year 3 through to Year 6. School captains and
vice captains automatically take on the representative role for their classes, as well as leading
conversations during JSC meetings. This is because they have already been voted for by their peers to
represent the school as a whole.
Nominated students must prepare a speech which they present to their peers. This speech is to be
completed outside of learning time, and presented during lunch eating times. A success criteria for
students to follow can be found on the next page.

The first JSC Meeting will be held on Friday 3rd of May at

Recess. Please have your JSC representative chosen by then.
Any questions or suggestions can be directed to Mrs. Gara or Mr. Torpey who are leading this program.
