Lettering & Geometric Drawing Guide

This document outlines an assignment involving lettering and geometric construction. It includes 14 tasks: writing vertical and inclined uppercase and lowercase letters of different sizes; drawing different types of lines and labeling them; constructing geometric shapes like triangles, squares, regular polygons; dividing lines into equal parts; and drawing circles and dividing their circumferences. The tasks involve freehand drawing as well as precise constructions and divisions using given dimensions and methods.

ASSIGNMENT-I

LETTERING AND GEOMETRIC CONSTRUCTION

1. Write freehand, (i) the vertical upper case and lower case letters (ii) inclined upper case and
lower case letters in the ratio of 7:4. Also, write the numerals 0 to 9.
2. Write freehand, (i) the vertical upper case and lower case letters (ii) inclined upper case and
lower case letters using Type A lettering of height 14mm. Also, write the numerals 0 to 9.
3. Write freehand, (i) the vertical upper case and lower case letters (ii) inclined upper case and
lower case letters using Type B lettering of height 10mm. Also, write the numerals 0 to 9.
4. Draw various types of lines used in engineering drawing of any convenient length and name
them. Give example for each type.
5. Draw a perpendicular on a given line from a point outside it and within the given line.
6. Draw five numbers of parallel lines to a given straight line.
7. Divide a given straight line into ten equal parts.
8. Draw by any method (i) an equilateral triangle of 60 mm side (ii) an isosceles triangle of base
50 mm and two sides 60 mm each (iii) a square of 60 mm side
9. Draw by any method (i) a regular pentagon of 60 mm each side (ii) a regular hexagon of 60
mm each side.
10. Draw a line AB 80 mm long and divide it into five parts, one of them 20 mm and the remaining
each 15 mm long, by the method of bisection.
11. Draw a circle of radius 50 mm and divide the circumference into (i) 8 equal parts and (ii) 12
equal parts
12. Draw tangent to a circle of 50 mm dia from a point 80 mm away from centre of circle.
13. On line 40 mm long, construct heptagon using method 1.
14. Construct an octagon of 30 mm side using method 2.
