● Semua kalimat di bagian SWE berbentuk pernyataan (statement).
● Topik yang dibahas semuanya bersifat akademik.
● Kenali jenis kalimat (simple, compound, atau complex).
● Kenali mana subjek dan kata kerja utama.
Tips umum mengerjakan tes Structure & Written
Expression
● Kenali jenis tenses dilihat dari keterangan waktu dan kata kerja yang
digunakan:
○ Topik sejarah (biasanya ada tahun), umumnya dalam bentuk past tense.
○ Topik IPA (general science) biasanya dalam bentuk simple present tense.
● Periksa kesesuaian subjek dan kata kerja (S-V agreement).
● Perhatikan pemakaian conjunctions, prepositions, dan articles yang tepat.
● Jangan ada jawaban yang kosong (tidak terjawab).
Tips mengerjakan bagian Sentence Completion
● Tentukan apa yang diperlukan untuk melengkapi kalimat dengan tepat.
● Dari pilihan jawaban yang ada, tentukan mana yang paling pas untuk
melengkapi kalimat.
● Eliminasi pilihan jawaban yang secara grammar tidak tepat dalam melengkapi
kalimat.
● Isi semua soal. Jangan sampai ada jawaban yang kosong. Pilihlah meskipun
Anda masih kurang yakin.
● Jangan terlalu lama menghabiskan waktu di bagian ini. Masih ada bagian
kedua yang jumlah soalnya lebih banyak.
Tips mengerjakan bagian Error Recognition
● Fokuskan perhatian pada kata-kata yang digarisbawahi. Tidak perlu membaca
keseluruhan kalimat terlebih dahulu.
● Terkadang ada kata-kata yang dari sananya sudah kelihatan salah, (mis: “a
books”). Langsung tandai dan beralih ke soal berikutnya.
● Jika Anda belum bisa menemukan kesalahan, maka baru baca kalimat
selengkapnya, perhatikan hubungan dengan kata-kata di dekat pilihan
jawaban.
● Isi semua soal. Jangan sampai ada jawaban yang kosong. Pilihlah meskipun
Anda masih kurang yakin.
