 ABOUT SRI KRISHNA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
Nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats, located in a sprawling 52-acre
campus in Kovaipudur, Coimbatore, Sri Krishna College of Technology (SKCT) is a vibrant
institute of higher education promoted by the Sri Krishna Institutions in 1985. An

oneself is the hallmark of the Institute which is solely attributed to Late Sri S Vankatram,
who shaped this citadel of learning during its formative period. Being an autonomous

ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING – AN OVERVIEW

Electronics and communication engineering is the utilization of science and

mathematics applied to practical problems in the eld of communications. The
Electronics & Communication Engineering involves the transmission of information
across channels such as a coax cable, optical ber or free space. Electronic
communications engineers engage in research, design, development and testing of
the electronic equipment used in various communications systems. It is due to
electronics and communication engineers that we enjoy such modern
communication devices as cellular telephones, radios and television. You can work on
designing equipment such as routers, switches, multiplexers and electronic switching
systems, copper telephone facilities and ber optics.

Started in the year 1985, Department of ECE has grown higher and considered as
one of the well-equipped departments across state in terms of infrastructure, Curriculum
and Content quality and quality of teaching faculty. While building a solid foundation of
the fundamentals, the students are also exposed to emerging trends in the industry and
are moulded to be quality professionals of the future. Department of Electronics and
Communications Engineering aims at providing T- shaped learning through stream
based electives where students are provided with the choice of getting specialized in
any one of the thrust areas like VLSI, Embedded Systems, Communication Engineering,
Networks, Image and video processing. The department houses Electronics Sector Skills
Council of India sponsored Centre of Excellence in VLSI and Embedded Systems (One of
its Kind across Tamilnadu) to develop skilled manpower under the scheme of Skill India
and Start-up India to meet the vision of the country, 'Make in India'. Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering has a sanctioned in-take of 180 by AICTE
and offers UG, PG and PhD Programmes in ECE. Department of ECE is accredited by
NBA and permanently afliated to Anna University, Chennai.

AICTE MODROB SPONSORED ANTENNA DESIGN & PROTOTYPING LAB

Ÿ ANSYS HFSS is 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulation
software for designing and simulating high-
frequency electronic products such as antennas,
antenna arrays, RF or microwave components, high-
speed interconnects, lters, connectors, IC
packages and printed circuit boards.
Ÿ Antenna Prototyping Machines are especially useful
for making RF / Antenna circuit boards. To make an
RF circuit board, you have to go through several
iterations of making a test board and measuring its
characteristics. For a typical circuit board, it is good
enough if circuits are accurately connected
electrically. However, for an RF/Antenna circuit, you
have to ensure excellent RF characteristics of the
circuit board itself.
