This School Based Assessment is the requirement of the Caribbean secondary Examination
Certificate. It introduces the reader about the topic ‘Sports’ and the researcher issue is ‘To
investigate the barriers that sports athletes faced in sports field.

Sports is a activity involving physical exection and skills in which an individual or team
competes against another or others for entertainment ,while a barrier is an obstacle that prevents
the progress of someone. Many athletes would have suffered from barriers which would have
destroyed their careers and very little was done to assist those persons. The researcher chose this
topic because he has a strong connection with sports. The researcher expects to improve in his
writing, reading and comprehension skills which will aid him in the future. The researcher
intends to collect the information by reading articles, internet sites, and by interviewing local
athletes.

Entry 1
The researcher saw how barriers affected many sports athletes and in the sports
field . The researcher personally has sometimes contributed to this problem. The
researcher learned that women can also take part in sports activities , they can also
overcome barriers and help to breaks the barriers of many sports athletes .

After listening to the audio , the researcher was inspired by the sports women , most female
sports athletes are one that overcome barriers in many sports field .

The third piece of artifact was a printed article by an international journal of the history of
sports on the 15thOctober 2012 , that proves that a female sports athletes was had a
difficulty of facing barriers to become a sports athletes in the country of Qatar . The
researcher was effected by the barrier that the female sports athlete faced of becoming a
female sports athlete .

Reflection 2
The audio was in a formal tone, the language that was used in the audio is Standard English and
she was very passionate on what she said in the audio .she did not said anything that was jargons.
The researcher had even researched the concepts .In the end, the researcher was able to
understand the audio and how it related.

The language that was used in the video was formal language and the researcher developed some
clarity about the barriers in his country .the researcher was able to understand the video and he
has a better understand of the barriers that the athlete was faced.

In the article, the language was also formal and it was written that anyone can understand it. The
article was very instrumental for the researcher, it help the researcher to has a better understand
more about barriers that sports athletes faced in many sports field.

This topic has shaped the researcher skills as it comes to barriers to sports athletes’ .by doing the
research; it helped the researcher to improve in his reading and comprehension skills.

The researcher also gained more knowledge on sports. In the country Qatar, there was a female
sports athlete who had a great difficulty in participating in the sports activities.

This school based assessment has made the researcher into a better person .Barriers to sports
athletes has made the researcher feel the pain that these sports athletes are enduring .This topic
made the researcher realize that individuals, especially the male athletes are the ones that facing
barriers in the sports fields

Oral Presentation

One of the criteria for this English School Based Assessment was to make a presentation

orally. The researcher closes the genre of a speech because it would be both challenging and

rewarding for the researcher.

Good morning everyone. My group topic is Sports and my personal issue is to investigate the

barriers that sports athletes faced in sports field before I start to talk about my topic. Let start

with, what is Sport and barriers, what causes Sports athletes to face barriers and how to prevents

barriers from sports athletes. Sport is an activities involving physical exertion and skills in

which an individual or team complete against another or other for entertainment and barriers is

something that stop or prevent an individual from developing in physical activity or in sports.

What causes sports athletes to faced barriers in sport field? Some of the main causes of barriers

to sports athletes include;

 Lack of early experience in sports {this varies between individual and whether a

disability is form birth or acquired later in life}

 Lack of understanding and awareness of how to include people with a disability in

sports.

How to prevent barriers from Sports athletes. You can prevent barriers to sports athletes by:

 Understanding what motivates athletes to deliver a sport program.

 Set up the key relationship in the sports environment.

 . work together to build a more inclusive and positive sports culture in the sports field.
