Classwork Activities
1. I will introduce the topic for the day and ask if anyone can tell me what an act of kindness is or give an example. Then, I will
explain it in my own words and make sure there’s a clear understanding before starting the warm up.
2. For warm up, students will watch a video that demonstrates various acts of kindness that can take place in school. Afterwards, I
will ask the students about what kinds of acts they saw in the video, if they’ve seen any of them take place on this campus, or if
they can think of other acts they’ve seen. I will write the students answers on the board for visual support and for students to use
later in the lesson either for inspiration or so they can copy if they struggle with independent writing.
3. I will then continue that discussion by asking students why these acts are important. This section of the lesson will include me
prompting students to think about how they have felt when people showed them acts of kindness, how they themselves feel after
doing something nice, and where/when you can do an act of kindness (anywhere, anytime). This is where I will tie in how
we’ve been working on building friendships and interacting positively with each other and this is super important for that
because people who do kind acts for others are the kinds of friends that people want around them.
4. After our discussion, students will create 3 act of kindness goals for home and 3 act of kindness goals for school and write it on
the worksheet I’ve created. Once they finish, they will choose one school kindness goal out of the ones they’ve already listed
and write it on a “Kindness Challenge” slip of paper. These will be hung somewhere in the classroom so that, whenever I see
them actively achieving that goal, they get rewarded.
5. After collecting their papers and before transitioning to the next class, I will explain to them the WOW/Kudos papers that will
be given out when they have a truly above and beyond WOW moment of kindness either in our class or in their inclusion
classes like PE and art
Academic Support
Differentiation Strategies I will guide them throughout the discussion
- Use tickets to help with positive reinforcement and encourage students to stay engaged and verbally provide sentence stems for them
- Have examples of acts of kindness we saw written on the board for students to copy if when needed. Examples will be shown in the
needed video as well as discussed verbally and written
- Read the worksheet out loud and fill in my own worksheet as an example and way to on the board for visual support. They’re

- Modified expectations for final product/grading purposes students throughout the independent work part
-The video I chose is just music in the background so that it is accessible for all students of the lesson.
