The major services provided by IRCTC are given as follows-
1. Hospitality services-
The hospitality services provided by IRCTC includes onboard catering services in trains,
catering services at station and automatic vending machines that are available at A, B and C
class railway stations.
2. Packaged drinking water –
In order to serve the Indian railway passengers, IRCTC has increased the manufacturing
capacity of their plants which are operating in Delhi and Bihar. In southern region where
they have rail neer plant at Palur near Chennai, and it has the capacity to manufacture bottles
that can hold up to 18,000 litres of water per day.
3. Quality control and complaint system-
In order to improve the quality of services, IRCTC has set up control rooms in major cities
like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, etc and these control rooms are equipped with
phone, fax, computers with broadband connectivity that are functional all the time. If the
passengers have any complaint or queries regarding the services, they can call on a toll-free
number 1800-111-139. The passengers can also connect with the IRCTC officials via SMS
on phone number 9971-111-139, and this service is also free.
4. Online ticketing-
IRCTC has provided an online portal where the passengers can book tickets from anyplace
without visiting Railway Station for booking. Nowadays there is no requirement of physical
tickets as E-Tickets are accepted by IRCTC officials with a valid ID proof. On an average
13 Lakh tickets are sold by IRCTC website daily.
5. Railway enquiry call centre-
IRCTC has provided customer support service to their passengers where a customer can dial
139 toll-free to get the information regarding train timings, PNR status, train routes, etc.
