IV. LESSON TASKS


PICTURE ANALYSIS: Teacher will show 4 examples of
ELICIT Volcanoes in the Philippines; Mt. Pinatubo, Taal Volcano, Mt. Apo,
and Mt. Arayat.
1. What can you say about the pictures?
ENGAGE 2. Does all the volcanoes located at the same place?
3. Are all volcanoes had record of eruption
Essential Question: How can volcanoes be classified?
EXPLORE Working in groups: Students will follow guided activity.
Each group is given the tasks to classify volcanoes as active or
inactive based on record of eruption.
Key Questions:
1. Are all volcanoes found in the same location?
2. Which of the volcanoes had the most number of eruptions? Least
number of eruptions? No record of eruption?
EXPLAIN 3. How will you classify the volcanoes that have records of
eruptions?
4. How will you classify volcanoes with no record of eruption?
5. In your own words, differentiate an active volcano from an
inactive one.
ELABORATE Key Question:
How are volcanoes classified?
EVALUATE Classify the following as active or inactive volcanoes.
1. Cabaluyan ( inactive)
2. Mayon ( active )
3. Taal ( active )
4. Kanlaon (active )
5. Tamburok ( inactive)
EXTEND The teacher will show 2 photos (one is showing the beauty of
volcanoes and the other is the danger of it) and the students will
examine what does the pictures portrays.

VI. HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENT
Research how volcanoes erupt by answering the following questions.
1. Differentiate Volcano from Magma.
2. What are the materials ejected by volcanoes?
3. What are the processes that happen during volcanic eruptions?
4. What is the role of pressure in volcanic eruption?
