Introduction
Being a developing country is considered a huge challenge to be passed. Egypt has been
encountering enormous grand challenges such as the decreasing of clean water sources,
recycling the water resources and the improving the agricultural and industrial bases. Improving
the agricultural base of Egypt is considered an important grand challenge that is related to the
capstone challenge: saving water for agriculture. Agriculture is considered a major part in the
Egyptian economic as it represents 24.84% of the total employment in 2017 (as shown in fig ().
The share of agricultural water of the River Nile 55.5 b m 3 annually is decreased because of the
increasing population that was estimated at 104 million in 2018. Thus, the poverty of water was
existed as the share of water per capita was reached 600 m 3 annually instead of 1000 m3 as
shown in fig (). Our project was crafted to solve some problems to be solved like food shortage
that was resulted due to the decreasing of nutrition resources and economic crisis, water
pollution due to the wrong drainage systems, and the industrial collapse. In order to recognize
the previous attempts, prior solutions were searched such as California new irrigation systems
(sprinkles and dripping) which is efficient and saves 65%-70% of water. Nevertheless, some
weakness points were existed like high costs of the systems. To identify the project, design
requirements were determined like the low cost of the project, high efficiency of water saving,
and the availability of the materials. After the research was ended, team’s solution was chosen
to treat the sewage water by sewage filter processes that succeeded to get better than the
expected results will be explained. Furthermore, full injection irrigation system was made that
decreased more than 90% of the used water. Finally, prototype has been made to test the
designing requirements so some materials and methods have been used.
