Cutting
Cutting Instructions
Please Note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted.
WOF= Width of Fabric • LOF = Length of Fabric
Fabric A (3052P-87 Book Panel – Multi):
• Fussy cut (10) 9” square panels, each centered on a cat.
Fabric B (Paprika-32 Peppered Cottons – Paprika), cut:
• (1) 9” x WOF strip, sub-cut into (20) 2” x 9” strips.
• (1) 12” x WOF strip, sub-cut into (20) 2” x 12” strips.
Fabric C (3058-01 Tossed Pins – White), cut:
• (3) 10 ½” x WOF strips, sub-cut into (49) 2” x 10 ½” strips.
Fabric D (3057-77 Kittens Toss – Blue), cut:
• (2) 10 ⅞” x WOF strips, sub-cut into (5) 10 ⅞” squares. Cut the squares on a diagonal from the
upper right to the lower left to make (10) triangles.
Fabric E (3055-01 Pin Cushion Toss – White), cut:
• (1) 6 ⅞” x WOF strip, sub-cut into (5) 6 ⅞” squares. Cut the squares on a diagonal from the upper
right to the lower left to make (10) triangles.
Fabric F (3059-88 Mini Quilt Geo – Red), cut:
• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and
cut (2) 1 ½” x 59 ½” strips.
• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and
cut (2) 1 ½” x 50” strips.
Fabric G (3056-76 Measuring Tape – Blue/Green), cut:
• (4) 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end-to-end and cut (2) 4 ½” x 71 ½” strips.
• (3) 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end-to-end and cut (2) 4 ½” x 52” strips.
Fabric H (Ink-45 Peppered Cotton – Ink), cut:
• (2) 2” x WOF strips, sub-cut into (30) 2” squares.
• (3) 2 ⅞” x WOF strips, sub-cut into (35) 2 ⅞” squares.
• (7) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.
Fabric I (1351-Grass Just Color! – Grass), cut:
• (4) 2 ⅞” x WOF strips, sub-cut into (45) 2 ⅞” squares. Cut (10) of the squares on a diagonal from
the upper right to the lower left to make (20) triangles.
Fabric J (1351-Teal Just Color! – Teal), cut:
• (4) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and
cut (2) 1 ½” x 61 ½” strips.
• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and
cut (2) 1 ½” x 52” strips.
Backing (3058-77 Tossed Pins – Blue), cut:
• (2) 68” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 68” x 79” for the back.

Sewing
Sew using a ¼” seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always
press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows.
Block Assembly
1. Sew (1) 2” x 9” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 9” Fabric A square. Sew (1) 2” x 12” Fabric B strip to the
top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make (1) Block One (Fig. 1). Trim the square to measure
10 ½” square. Repeat to make (10) Block Ones total.

2. Place (1) 2 ⅞” Fabric I square on top of (1) 2 ⅞” fabric H square, right sides together. Draw a line across
the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 2). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2). Cut the
two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3) to make (2) HI units (Fig. 4). Trim HI units to measure
2 ½” square. Repeat to make (70) HI units total.

3. Sew (3) HI units together to make (1) strip. Sew (1) Fabric I triangle to the Fabric H end of the strip to
make (1) side strip (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (10) side strips total.

4. Sew (4) HI units together to make (1) strip. Sew (1) Fabric I triangle to the Fabric H end to make (1)
top/bottom strip (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (10) top/bottom strips total.

5. Sew (1) side strip, (1) top/bottom strip, (1) Fabric D triangle and (1) Fabric E triangle together to make
(1) Block Two (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (10) Block Twos total. Pay attention to the placement of the side and
top/bottom strips and the orientation of the block.

Quilt Top Assembly
(Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)
6. Sew (5) 2” Fabric H squares and (4) 2” x 10 ½” Fabric C strips together, alternating them, to make (1)
sashing strip. Repeat to make (6) sashing strips total.
7. Refer to the Quilt Layout for block placement and sew (5) 2” x 10 ½” Fabric C strips, (2) Block Ones and
(2) Block Twos together to make (1) row. Repeat to make (5) rows total.
8. Sew the (6) sashing strips and (5) rows together to make the quilt top.
9. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 59 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 50” Fabric F strip to the
top and to the bottom of the quilt top.
10. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 61 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 52” Fabric J strip to the
top and to the bottom of the quilt top.
11. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 52” Fabric G strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 71 ½”
Fabric G strip to each side of the quilt top.
Layering, Quilting and Finishing
12. Press the quilt top and 68” x 79” backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top
(right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.
Binding
13. Cut the ends of the (7) Fabric H binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make (1)
continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together.
14. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand
stitch in place.
