Team Sport
A team sport includes any sport which involves players working together towards a
shared objective. A team sport is an activity in which a group of individuals, on the same
team, work together to accomplish an ultimate goal which is usually to win. This can be
done in a number of ways such as outscoring the opposing team. Team members set
goals, make decisions, communicate, manage conflict, and solve problems in a
supportive, trusting atmosphere in order to accomplish their objectives.
This usually involves careful strategic planning, good preparation, and a mental and
physical toughness of each individual that is part of the team. Team Sport rely on all of
the players working together equally in order to succeed at the task at hand.
Group Games
Group game is an experiential educaton exercise that helps people to learn about
themselves, interpersonal relationships, and how groups function from a group games
or psychological points of view.
Basketball
A usually indoor court game between two teams of usually five players each who
score by tossing an inflated ball through a raised goal.
What is the importance of team sports
The importance of team sports is to give or teach a certain level of communication
and discipline in order to win in game situation, team sports also important to the
children to develop their skills and their communication and mental, emotional skills also
the importance of team sports is to teach us the skills we needed to handle ourselves in
the real world it is also a best way to improve our social skills by enhancing our
communication skills towards the environment by trying to team up a sports.
Brief history of basketball?
The game basketbakk was originatednin December 1891 by a Canadian born man by
the name of James Naismith, Naismith was a teacher at the YMCA training school in
springfield, Massachusetts. He was required to train young men to become instructors
at newly opened YMCA centres. With the cold weather keeping the class indoors, in
December 1891, Naismith was asked by the schools superintendent of Physical
Education, Dr. Luther. H. Gulick, to create an indoor game that would keep the young
men active during the cold winter months.
Basketball required very little equipment to play… two peach baskets hanging 10 feet
above the ground and a soccer ball. The object of the game is to work as a team to
throw or bat the soccer ball into the opposing teams peach basket, while defending a
score in your peach basket from the opposition team.
The 13 Rules of Basketball.
1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.
2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with
the fist.
3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which
he catches it.
4. The ball must be held by the hands. The arms or body must not be used for
holding it.
5. No shouldering, holding, pushing,striking or tripping in anyway of an opponent.
6. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violations of rules 3 and 4 such as
described in rule 5.
7. If either side makes three consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the
opponents
8. A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or battered from the grounds into
the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or
disturb the goal.
9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by
the first person touching it.
10. The umpire shall be the judge if the man and shall note the fouls and notify te
referee
11. The referee shall be the judge of the ball and shall decide when the ball is in
play in bounds to which side it belongs and shall keep the time.
12. The time shall be two fifteen minutes halves with five minutes rest between.
13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winner.

What are the skills use in Basketball?
Basketball skills have two primary categories
1. Offensive skills: Shooting, rebounding,passing,and dribbling
2. Defensive skills: Blocking, Stealing, and again rebounding
Shooting: Consist of launching the ball toward the basket in an arcing motion with the
purpose of it going in and scoring points. When shooting keep your eyes on the target
place the ball on your fingertips, place your feet shoulder width apart, place your elbow
under the ball and then follow through and hold the finish.
Offensive Rebounding: Is obtained when the team that just shot the ball misses and
then recaptures the ball again. As a general rule it is tougher for a player to get an
offensive rebound than a defensive rebound because after a shot misses the opposing
teams players are closer to the basket and in better position to grab the ball.
Passing: Happens when one player throws the ball to another player with the purpose
of setting up a play or taking a shot.
Dribbling: Is the art of bouncing tha ball up and down off the floor with one hand in
order o advance the ball up the court.
Blocking: Is another spectacular crowd favorite. It occurs when the offensive player
shoots and the defender swats the ball away, blocking its trajectory to the basket and
preventing any point from being scored.
Stealing: Or taking the ball away from an opposing player to gain possession for your
own team, require quick hands and great timing. A player can steal a pass out of midair
or from the other team while someone is dribbing.
Defensive Rebound: Is obtained when one team misses a shot and the opposing team
grabs the ball. An important skills needed to collect defensive rebounds is kown as
boxing oout.
What are the equipments use in basketball?
The ball: There are different sizes of basketball
Standard Mens Basketball(size 7) it has circumference between 29.5 and 30
inches and weighs between 20 and 22
Standard Mens Basketball (size 6) it is between 28.5 and 29 inches in
circumference and weighs 18-20 ounces
Junior Basketball (Size 5) The junior size if for the girls ages 8-12 , it is
between 27.25 to 27. 75 inches in circumference and weighs 14-16 ounces.
Mini Basketball (Size 3) For young children ages 5-8, the mini ball is 22 to 22.5
inches
The Basket: The Basket is made up of the backboard, rim and net.
The Uniform: The basketball uniform generally consist of a tank top and shorts. You
also need socks some good basketball type sneakers.
