Dear Parent of Teen Driver,

The Florida Sheriff’s Association’s Teen Driver Challenge (TDC) was created in 2007 to address the
primary factors affecting teen drivers – speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, texting
while driving and distracted driving. This program is offered at no cost to teen drivers and led by sheriff
deputies licensed as Commercial Driving School Instructors.

Do you know a licensed teenage driver, age 16 – 19, who would benefit from learning more about safe
driving techniques and who resides in Duval County? Do they have access to a safe and properly insured
vehicle that they can use during the class hours? If so, they meet the requirements to take the Florida
Sheriffs Association’s Teen Driver Challenge class, taught by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Academy
Instructors. This one-day, “hands on” education program addresses the primary factors affecting teen
drivers.

Sheriff Williams added, “As a parent and a law enforcement professional one of my goals is to make sure
that our new drivers have the tools that they need to be safe. Their success learning this new skill helps
reduce the number of crashes and deaths on our roadways. The Florida Sheriffs Association’s Teen
Driver Challenge program helps educate our youth and provide a little peace of mind to parents.”

Please go online to www.jaxsheriff.org search “Teen Driver Challenge” and register today. Classes fill up
quickly so don’t delay! Several classes are available through October 2021. It should be noted that The
Teen Driver Challenge is not a supplement or advance driving course, it is a defensive driving program
that covers various topics. Drivers should have at least 20 hours of driving experience.
