First of all, I'm very grateful to you to give me an opportunity to introduce myself. My name is
Rico Giyar Pionar, I am from Purwakarta, West Java. I was born in November 7 th 1997. I graduated from
SMAN 1 Purwakarta, it’s actually the best high school in my city. Right now, I’m studying Civil
Engineering, of course in this prestigious college, Bina Nusantara. I registered to Binus not because I
failed to enter into National College. But the first college I signed up is Binus, because I don’t want to be
too late to sign up here. I'm interested in many things such as music, and any sports. Even I look like a
person that never moves his body, I actually love to do sports. I want improve my English skills, I'm glad
to have here. My other hobbies including being with my friends.

I have an experience that changed my life. When I was in middle school, I was a kid that you
could call a loser, there were not many people that knew about me. It started when my teacher gave us
an assignment to make a group band, I was confused, I cannot play any music instrument at that time.
My friends keep asking me to play the guitar. When I first started, I hated it. The amount of required
practice seemed too much. I also could not grasp the concepts and I felt that it was boring and difficult.
But now, as I look back, I cannot imagine why I would react that way. Since that day the four of us still
play together, we even got payment for play music. It was a beautiful joy for me.

After graduated from high school, I have decided to continue my education, even though we are
known by many people in my city and we can get money from band, still, a band is not a good choice for
my future. I'm personally interested in becoming a Project Manager or at least a Surveyor, however,
there are many different career opportunities. I believe that a job should be like a hobby. It takes a long
time to study engineering. It is very difficult and requires a tremendous amount of patience and hard
work. I hope that I'll be able to meet these challenges, and that my dream will come true.

I have many reasons to study English, such as, it helps me a lot when I want to further studies, it
will help you to get a job, good English will also help you a lot when you travel. Even though English is so
important, but since we live in Indonesia, it will be a difficult one. We always speak using Bahasa, and
only speak English when we have the class. I learn English a little bit every time I sing a song, of course
English song, I learned how to pronounce it too. Movies are a good way to learn English too.
