Quick Guide for use
Preamble

The contents of this Quick Guide are the property of ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH.

Any reproduction in whole or in part is strictly prohibited.

At the time of printing, the Quick Guide correctly describes the device and its functions.

However, as modifications may have been carried out since printing, the provided system

package consisting of this Quick Guide, the Instructions for Use (on CD), and an

Installation Guide may contain one or more amendments to the manuals .

The Instructions for Use additionally to this Quick Guide and any amendments must be

thoroughly read before using the device.

ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH is only responsible for the reliability and performance

of the device if the following is strictly observed:

u Authorized personnel (see back of manual for authorized service centres) carry out
all service, repairs and modifications.

u The device must be used in accordance with the intended use and the instructions
put forth in the Safety Information section of the Instructions for Use.

u The user has to perform the daily, weekly and the monthly maintenance. The daily
maintenance contains the rinsing of the system at the end of the day.
Once a week, thoroughly clean all Alegria reagent containers using a brush
and a commercially available laboratory detergent. The monthly maintenance
is a cleaning of the system with Flush Routine Solution (order no.: ORG 305).

ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH offers a one-year warranty from the day of purchase on
defective material and assembly. If the below points are not strictly observed, the warranty
will be considered invalid.

u The warranty does not cover damage resulting from incorrect use or user mainten-
ance or from unauthorized software modification.

u ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH is only responsible for replacement of defective


parts excluding wear parts.

u ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH is not responsible for any personal injury or any
damage resulting from incorrect use of the analyser.

Introduction and Reference

WARNING

This Quick Guide is for Alegria® users that had read the Alegria® Instructions for Use and

know all safety informations required for safe and proper use of the instrument.

Prerequisites are:

u The user has read the Alegria® Instructions for Use !

u The device was unpacked and installed according to the Instructions for Use !

Intended Use

This manual is to be used as a Quick Guide for the user that knows the instrument.

If not, please consult the Alegria® Instructions for use.

The Quick Guide is intended to take the user the fastest way through the test protocol(s).

Quick Guide
The instrument can be used with different types of protocols. The quick guide describes

the following protocol types:

(1) LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) Protocol (page 6)

(2) Manual Paper Protocol (Page 8)

(3) Touch Screen Protocol (Page 9)

(4) External Barcode Reader Protocol (Page 11)

Note
Depending on the device configuration (with or without LIMS) four respectively three

Protocols will be visible after having started the instrument.

Start of Instrument
u Push "Start Analyze" button
u Enter a user name by using touch screen keyboard

u Push "Ok" button


u Push the respectively protocol button and follow instructions below

(1) LIMS Protocol - Requests Sorted by Patient ID
u By using external barcode reader, scan first the patient ID and the appropriate test

requests are shown in the run list

u Insert the corresponding test strips into the SysTray

u Highlight the test request on the display by tapping the corresponding line showing

the patient ID and the test name; scan the corresponding test strip barcode with the

external barcode reader; a message appears that prompts if the two scanned IDs

are to be linked together; push the "OK" or "Cancel" button

u A list can be printed by pushing "Print" button, this can be helpful when pipetting the

samples

u Pipette the samples into the strips and ensure to pipette into the correct strip positi-

on in the SysTray

u Push "Open Lid" button

u Insert SysTray into instrument

u To insert more than one SysTray push the "Rotate" button to rotate to the next free

SysTray position

u Push "Close Lid" button

u Push "Scan Strips" button

Note
After scanning of the test strips with the internal barcode reader inside the instrument, the
position of the test request on the display is set according to the position of the test strip
inserted to the SysTray.
u Push "Analyze" button

u Results will be transferred after the test run depending on the chosen LIMS export
mode either automatically to the LIMS, or can be exported manually from the archive

u Printing is done automatically


u Remove SysTray

u To remove more than one SysTray, push the "Rotate" button to rotate to the next
SysTray

u Push "New" button to start a new test or push "Exit" button to end analyse session

u Push "View all" button to call up all test requests stored on the Alegria to the display

u Insert the corresponding test strips into the SysTray

u Highlight the test request on the display by tapping the corresponding line showing

the patient ID and the test name; scan the corresponding test strip barcode with the

external barcode reader; a message appears that prompts if the two scanned IDs

u Push "Keyboard" button and enter patient ID by using the touch screen, or use the

external barcode reader and note in which position the patient ID is entered

u Pipette sample into strip and ensure to pipette into the correct strip position in the

SysTray according to entered patient ID on the touch screen

u Push "Open Lid" button

u Insert SysTray into instrument

u To insert more than one SysTray push the "Rotate" button to rotate to the next free

SysTray position

u Push "Close Lid" button

u Push "Scan Strips" button

u Push "Analyze" button

u Printing is done automatically

u Remove SysTray

u To remove more than one SysTray, push the "Rotate" button to rotate to the next

u Insert strips into SysTray

u By using external barcode reader scan first the patient ID and then the strip ID; a

message appears that prompts if the two scanned IDs are to be linked together,

push the OK or Cancel button

u A list can be printed by pushing "Print" button, this can be helpful when pipetting the

samples

u Pipette sample into strip and ensure to pipette into the correct strip position in the

SysTray

u Push "Open Lid" button

u Insert SysTray into instrument

u To insert more than one SysTray push the "Rotate" button to rotate to the correct
