CE MANUAL, AS WITH THAT OF THE MACHINE ITSELF,
MUST ALWAYS BE KEPT ABOARD IN THE CAB IN THE
LANGUAGE OF THE USER.

- ATTENTION -
THE OPERATOR MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND
THE MACHINE MANUAL BEFORE READING
THE PLATFORM MANUAL.

- ATTENTION -
Platforms mounted on the telescopic boom head
can only be utilised when the machine is level,
with a maximum allowed incline of 2°.

- ATTENTION -
The machine onto which the accessory has been mounted
must be blocked and stabilised on level, even ground.

- ATTENTION -
Platforms mounted on the telescopic boom head
can only be utilised on even ground.

- ATTENTION -
Carefully consult capacity-related graphs before
starting any operations.

- ATTENTION -
Some platforms, given their dimensions, can interfere
with tyres or machine parts when the boom is completely
retracted and lowered. It is therefore best in this case to
lift and extract the boom as much as necessary to prevent
interference during movement.

- ATTENTION -
Two safety pins must be inserted when using
the platform to secure it to the tool carrier plate.
Always verify proper hooking of the platform
to the telescopic boom plate before operating.
- Always ensure that the load deposited inside the pla-
tform cannot slip out and fall on the ground. Load loss
or any loss due to the load can cause not only damage
to property and persons but can cause the platform to
oscillate, with resulting risks of operator falls and machi-
ne tipping.
- Always ensure that the load deposited inside the pla-
tform cannot fall or overturn. Load loss or any loss due
to the loss can cause not only damage to property and
persons but can cause the platform to oscillate, with re-
sulting risks of operator falls and machine tipping.

12
- ATTENTION -
Ensure that the platform locking bar has been lowered
and is free from any constraints before operating. Al-
ways check that seat belts have been fastened properly.

- WARNING -
Increasing platform boom or working height by means
of additional equipment (for example ladders, buckets,
makeshift tools, etc.) is strictly prohibited.

Any addition increasing the wind load of the platform
(for example advertising signs, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
- Do not exceed machine stability limits.
- Always warn surrounding persons before starting any
manoeuvres.
- Before using the platform, make sure that nobody is in the ma-
chine operating range. Calculate overall machine dimensions.

- WARNING -
Climbing up or coming down from the platform when
it is elevated or in movement is strictly prohibited.

- WARNING -
Platform overloading and transversal stress
are strictly prohibited.

- Do not stop under the platform or near the operating machine.

- If visibility is reduced, make use of an assistant on the
ground to coordinate movements and manoeuvres to be
performed and survey the area to warn any persons who
may enter into the working area. The individual on the
ground must keep at a safe distance from the machine.
- Avoid contact between fixed objects (buildings, etc.) and
moving objects (vehicles, lifting equipment, etc).
- Do not perform ground-controlled manoeuvres while per-
sonnel is on board the platform.

- WARNING -
Exceeding the basket load limit indicated on supplied
machine documentation is strictly prohibited. A higher
weight can cause a machine emergency and basket ma-
noeuvres are cut out.

- WARNING -
Transporting animals aboard the platform
is strictly prohibited.
Using the platform as a launch pad
is strictly prohibited.

13
ACCESSOIRES - Platform

- ATTENTION -
Verify movements performed by levers and by service
controls before beginning operations.

- ATTENTION -
The gear carrier basket must be used solely
for handling material.

During manoeuvres or drive, pay careful attention to

overall dimensions at machine height. Certain parts
protrude beyond the dimensions of the cab. AVOID any
contact between fixed objects (buildings, etc.) with mo-
ving objects (vehicles, lifting equipment, etc.).

- ATTENTION -
Whenever working near aerial power lines,
verify that the safety distance between
the machine and power lines is sufficient.

Enquire with your local power line agency.

In any case, do not work within a distance of less than 5
metres from power lines. Damp ground may increase the
possible danger area from electric discharges

- ATTENTION -
Working or parking the machine too close to power
lines can cause risk of electrocution or serious injury.
DIECI strongly recommends verifying that safety regulations
applied at the working site comply with current local regula-
tions regarding all types of work performed near power lines.

- Have a ground assistant signal any excessive proximity

of the machine to power lines.
- Do not allow anyone to come near the machine when
operating near power lines. Wear rubbers shoes and
gloves as a precautionary measure. Take care not to
touch the chassis with unprotected body parts.
- To prevent shocks in the event that machine should
collide with a power line, the operator must not leave
the machine until it has been ensured that the electrical
supply has been cut off.
- During momentary stops or at the end of work, lower the
boom and deposit the platform on the ground, signalling
its presence with appropriate signs.
- Protect accessories and the pushbutton panel when the
machine is in a standing phase.
- Equipment must always be disconnected during machi-
ne transport and lifting.

14
- Equipment must be properly anchored to the transport ma-
chine during transport. Always verify proper working condi-
tion of all anchoring (cables, chains, wedges, etc.) and do
not utilise any broken, worn out or twisted anchoring.

- Carefully read the DIECI accessory Safety Norms de-

scribed in the User and Maintenance Manual of the
DIECI machine paired with the accessory itself.

- Any functions and procedures for platform use not de-

scribed in this manual are strictly prohibited.

ACCESSOIRES - Platform

SAFETY DEVICES
1
- Emergency Pushbutton:
located on the pushbutton panel onboard the equipment
(fig.2 Pos."1"), stops the machine engine.

- Load limiter:
blocks boom movements in case of overload, also acti- (fig.2)
vates an acoustic alarm. Once a certain “load cell” (fig.3
Pos."1") has entered into operation, it signals said over-
load by sending an impulse to the “circuit board” (fig.4
Pos."2"), hindering any movement from the pushbutton pa-
nel. To exit from this alarm condition, bring the load inside
the basket back within limits imposed by the manufacturer.

- Area limiter:
a device limiting boom extension on the basis of the an- 1
gle, therefore determining the basket working area (see
capacity diagrams at the end of this manual). The area
limiter is composed of an electronic device connected to
an angle/boom sensor. The basket, which is equipped
with a traditional pushbutton panel or a remote control (fig.3)
support, is equipped with a green warning light which si-
gnals the basket position inside the working area. Once
this area limits have been reached, the warning light se- 2
lectors off and aggravating movements are automatically
inhibited for that position. 1
- The machine can only move when the boom is comple-
tely retracted, lowered and with its electrical outlet pro-
tection inserted in the outlet.

- The tool carrier incline (fork arching) is not active when

the “basket” function is selected on the machine. The
basket must be levelled before selecting the basket fun- (fig.4)
ction on commands. This operation is allowed only if the
basket is at a maximum height of 50cm from the ground
without any persons aboard.

- All jacks are equipped with block and lowering control

valves (fig.5 Pos."1").
1
- In the event of a loss of driving force, the boom can be
extracted and lowered by means of the pump on the rear
side of the machine (fig.6 Pos."1"). Proceed as descri-
bed in the “Basket emergency” paragraph in this manual
to perform this operation.

- ATTENTION - (fig.5)
Verify the efficiency of safety devices befor
any personnel lifting operations.

EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY

Lifting equipment assembly and disassembly on the machine are performed as follows:

1. Rest the accessory on a flat, hard surface to then be able to hook it easily with the telescopic boom tool carrier plate.
2. Position the machine with the boom lowered parallel to the equipment (fig.7).
Move the tool carrier plate closer to the accessory, extracting the telescopic boom (fig.8).
3. Using the arching movement, turn the lower part of the plate toward itself (fig.8).
Bring the upper telescopic elevator plate pin under the equipment locking hooks (fig.8).
4. Slightly lift the boom and recline the tool carrier plate back, bringing the lower side of it frontward until it meets the accessory plate.

(fig.7)

(fig.8)

18
- Secure the accessory to the telescopic boom plate "A"(fig.9), inserting the two pins “B” (fig.9) in their holes, blocking their
ends with pegs “C”(fig.9), then lower lever “D” (fig.9).
- In some DIECI telescopic elevators, accessory blocking to the telescopic boom plate "A" (fig.10) is performed by inserting
a single pin "B" (fig.10) in its hole and locking it to the end by means of a peg "C" (fig.10).

C A
B A
C
D
C

B B

(fig.9) (fig.10)

- ATTENTION:
Verify that the equipment has been properly hooked and that all pins and pegs have been inserted properly before each use.

- ATTENTION:
Check for any damage, deterioration or component deformations on equipment and tool carrier plate locking devices before each use.

- ATTENTION:
Pins "B" (fig.17-18) must always be inserted inside the plate to the end stop and locked with their pegs "C" (fig.9-10). If, due to any defor-
mation, they do not reach this position, DO NOT use the accessory in any event as it could dangerously unhook and fall to the ground.

- ATTENTION:
Always operate with both pins inserted on plates with two pins (fig.9).
Only one pin does not guarantee safe equipment blocking, and it could dangerously unhook and fall to the ground.

DISASSEMBLING THE ATTACHMENT

To remove the attachment when no longer required, simply repeat the procedure just described in reverse order, namely:
- Take the two pins “C” (fig.9-10) out of the centre of the attachment-carrying plate.
- Raise the levers “D” (fig.9) at the ends of the pins “B” (fig.9), then slide them out.
The attachment is now released from the host vehicle of DIECI; using the inclination control, rest it on flat and solid ground.

EQUIPMENT CONNECTIONS

Some equipment can be utilised only if connected to the

hydraulic system and/or the electrical system.

Hydraulic connections
(fig.16 Pos."1")

Quick couplings of the boom head are the female Push&Pull type
and can be coupled with male quick half-couplings under pressure. 1
Tubes can therefore be connected with the use of a single hand.
Push to insert, pull to release the male half-couplings from the
female ones. This operation can be performed only after having:
1
- Set the platform on the ground
- Stopped the engine
- Let off pressure from the hydraulic system
(move the control lever in both directions with the engine off) (fig.16)

- ATTENTION:
Always wait a minute before disconnecting couplings after
having let off system pressure.

- ATTENTION:
Always carefully clean couplings before each insertion.
If female boom and male equipment half-couplings have not
been utilised, they must be protected with suitable plastic plugs. 2
1 4
- ATTENTION:
Always disconnect hydraulic tubes from equipment before 3
unhooking the machine, otherwise tubes could become da-
maged and the platform drag.

Electrical connections
(fig.17-18)

Accessory electrical plugs (fig.18 Pos."1") can be 6 or 24

(fig.17)
pole. Each of these possesses its own false plug which must
be removed to connect the equipment to the machine. To re-
move this protection, push the upper hooking lever (fig.17
Pos."2") and the lower hooking lever (fig.17 Pos."3") toward
the telescopic boom, taking care not to hurt your hands.
Carry out the opposite operation to replace the protection.

- ATTENTION:
Always disconnect the electrical plug before unhooking 1
equipment from the machine, otherwise cable can become
damaged and the platform can drag.

- ATTENTION:
The electrical equipment plug and outlet on the boom have
their own support (fig.17 Pos."4", fig.18 Pos."1") to prevent da-
mage and deteriorations. The electrical plugs and outlets
(fig.18)
must be set in their supports whenever not being utilised.

22
PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS AND EQUIPMENT
COMMAND

1. Completely close and lower the telescopic boom.

2. Level the machine using the spirit level located in the cabin.
1
3. Position the "machine function selector" (fig.20 Pos."1",
fig.21 Pos."1") on "forks" (fig.20 Pos. "A", fig.21 Pos. "A"),
using instructions given in the "Equipment assembly" chap-
ter to hook the accessory to the machine.

4. When the platform has been properly assembled, bring it to

the working site. Position the machine properly levelled on its
stabiliser feet (if present).

5. Activate the command turning the "machine functions" selec-

tor key (fig.20 Pos."1", fig.21 Pos."1") in the cab to the “Ba-
sket” symbol (fig.20 Pos. "B", fig.21 Pos. "B"). This operation
allows pushbutton panel controls to transfer to the basket.

(fig.19) Pegasus load monitoring display

- ATTENTION -
If the "machine functions" selector remains on the
forks” symbol, electrical-hydraulic equipment
will not function and safeties will be disabled.
Risk of damage to property and persons,
machine tipping hazard.
1
- ATTENTION -
Refer to the machine manual for information regarding use
of the "machine function selector" and of the load limiter.

6. If equipment is to be assembled on rotating telescopic

elevators, select the assembled equipment by means of B
the load limiter on the display (fig.19 Pos."1") in addition
to activating the basket command. Refer to the machine A
user and maintenance manual for information regarding
selection mode and control panel use. (fig.20) Pegasus machine function selector

- ATTENTION -

device, situated on the boom head (fig.23), respecting
the colour pairs (blue-blue, red-red).

10. Remove the false plug on the telescopic boom head, ho-
oking it to the proper support. The hooking method of the
electrical protection is the same as for the equipment.
Do not leave the false plug hanging from the chain du-
ring working operations as this could damage it, com-
promising machine start-up without equipment use.

(fig.23)
11. Disconnect the equipment electrical plug from the pro-
tection support (fig.24).

12. Insert the accessory plug from the electrical plug (fig.25).

may hinder machine and equipment movements as it
could become damaged.

- ATTENTION:
Consult capacity diagrams for platform use.
(fig.24)
- ATTENTION:
Read remote control platform instructions before use.

- ATTENTION -
When using equipment possessing electrical or hydraulic
connections, these must ALWAYS be connected to the
machine. Missing connections will not allow for regular
safety functions and risk damage to property or persons
and a machine tipping hazard.

CAGE EMERGENCY

If you should encounter any faults or malfunctions while

using the suspended work cage, you need to use the boom/
joystick in the cab or the manual system to set the work
cage back down on the ground. In whichever case, you
must be very careful when manoeuvring, as all the safety
systems are disabled in such condition. Before making any
movements, it is strictly obligatory to check the work dia-
gram in the notebook in the cab to make sure you do not
move beyond the admitted safety area.

MOVEMENTS POSSIBLE WITH THE EMERGENCY PUMP

No.1 Retract boom extensions
No.2 Lower boom

- ATTENTION:
Never attempt to climb down from the suspended work cage A
using haphazard equipment or systems that could put the
operators at risk.
B
All machines equipped with cage or pre-arranged for the use
of the same are equipped with a manual pump for recovering
operators in the case of emergency (machine malfunctioning).
Proceed as follows to manually retract the boom.
1
- ATTENTION:
It takes two operators to manoeuvre the work cage to get it
back down on the ground (one in the manoeuvring cab and
the other by the manual pump).

1 - Turn the diesel engine off.

2 - The operator on the ground must get hold of the bar (situa- (fig.40)
ted in the tool box) to operate the pump on rod “A” (fig.40)
of the pump itself.
3 - Put lever “B” (fig.40) in position “1” to retract the extension.
4 - Put lever “B” (fig.41) in position “2” to lower the boom.
5 - While the operator on the ground operates the pump, the B
operator in the cab carries out other jobs, which depend on
the type of control valve installed.
Move the work cage by alternating the boom retraction and
boom lowering movements, so that it always remains within
the work chart.
2
- ATTENTION:
Once the operator has been recovered, put lever “B” back in
position “1” (fig.40).

Basket recovery with manual system

- ATTENTION -
These procedures must be carried out
by two qualified and expert operators
with the authorisation of the Safety Manager.

1. Extract the movement lever and insert in its housing on

the distributor (fig.45 Pos. “A” – “B” – “C”).
2. Act on the lever of the distributor of the manoeuvre to
carry out (fig.45), bearing in mind that:
- LEVER A UPWARDS – raises the boom.
- LEVER A DOWNWARDS – lowers the boom.
- LEVER B UPWARDS – rotates the turret towards the right.
- LEVER B DOWNWARDS – rotates the turret towards the left.
- LEVER C UPWARDS – retracts the boom.
- LEVER C DOWNWARDS – extends the boom.
- LEVER D – Pivot and turn (DO NOT USE)
- LEVER E – Additional movements (DO NOT USE)
3. The second operator on the ground must take out the
rod from the toolbox and insert it in the emergency hand D E
pump housing (fig.46 Pos. “1”).
4. To carry out movements, enable the emergency pump.
The second operator must push the rod to its limit stop
first from one side and then from the other to provide the
system with pressure; this operation has to be carried
out until the movement has been completed. A B C
5. Carry out points “1” and “3” for every single manoeuvre.
6. When the boom has been completely retracted, restore
the original conditions; close the distributor system door (fig.45)
and return the rod to the toolbox.

- ATTENTION -
Before pumping, act on the distributor lever to carry out the
desired manoeuvre. Pumping without shifting the lever di-
scharges the oil from the distributor and thus more effort is
required to carry out the manoeuvres.

- ATTENTION -
When the machine is in the emergency pump condition, the
anti roll-over systems are disabled. You must consult the
load diagram (in the handbook in the cab and in “Use and
Maintenance”) before carrying out any manoeuvre with the
distributor levers. In this way it is possible to know the exact 1
position the basket is in and the work area within which it is
possible to operate thanks to the inclinometer and the let-
ters on the boom. When retracting the basket, do not carry
out any movements that could jeopardise machine stability;
danger of rolling-over.

- ATTENTION - (fig.46)
Only use levers “A”, “B” and “C” (fig.45) for recovery
operations. The levers for pivot-turn and additional
movements “D” and “E” (fig.45) must not be used
because they can put people and things at risk.

BASKET EMERGENCY

Basket recovery with manual system

- ATTENTION -
These operations must be performed
by two qualified, expert operators
authorised by the health and safety manager.
1
1. Extract the rod located in the toolbox and insert it in the
slot in the emergency hand pump (fig.47 Pos.”1").
2. Remove the split pin (fig.48 Pos.”1") from the knob
(fig.48 Pos.”2") and screw it in.
3. Start up the emergency pump using the rod described
previously. The first operator must push the rod as far as (fig.47)
it will go, first to one side and then to the other in order to
give pressure to the plant. The operation must be perfor-
med until recovery has been completed.
4. At the same time as the first operator is following the
instructions in point “3”, the second operator must lower
the distributor lever of the manoeuvre to be performed
(fig.49), in the following order.
- LEVER A (blue) arm return.
- LEVER B (red) arm lowering.
- LEVER C (black) tower rotation.
- LEVER D - Traverse (DO NOT USE)
- LEVER E - Services (DO NOT USE)

5. When recovery has been completed, bring everything
back to the starting conditions. Unscrew the knob (fig.48
Pos.”2") and bring it back to the original position, reinsert
the split pin (fig.48 Pos.”1"), close the distributor plant (fig.48)
hatch, place the rod back in the toolbox.

- ATTENTION -
While the emergency pump is being used, the systems
to prevent overturning are deactivated. It is compulsory
to consult the loading diagram (which can be found in the
notebook in the cabin and in the Use and Maintenance ma-
nual) before performing any manoeuvre using the distributor
levers. In this way, using the inclinometer and the letters on
the arm, it is possible to find out the exact position of the
basket and the working area in which it can operate. During
basket recovery, no movements which could jeopardise ma-
chine stability must be performed, as these would risk a loss
of stability and overturning.

- ATTENTION -
Only levers “A”,”B” and “C” may be used for the reco-
very operations (fig.49). Levers “D” and “E” (fig.49) for
traverse and services must not be used as they could
jeopardise the health and safety of persons and objects. D E

PROTECTION ROOF (optional)

The four versions of the work cage can be equipped with a

detachable steel protection roof (fig.51) to protect the opera-
tor when working in the work cage.

The use of this protection roof does not exempt the

operator/s in the work cage from using the personal protec-
tion equipment imposed by law.

This application is an optional accessory that can be sup-

plied with the work cage and is not integral part of the same,
therefore the weight of the structure must be considered as
part of the load when calculating the remaining load capacity
or for reaching the maximum load-bearing capacity envisa-
ged for the work cage used.

The protection roof has its own aluminium nameplate, which

is riveted to the structure and which indicates its weight.

To attach the protection roof, use the nuts and bolts supplied
with the unit (no. 04 screws M12x60). (fig.51)

Refer to the table given in the general use and maintenance ma-
nual of the machine for the tightening force of the nuts and bolts.

Before and after use, make sure there are no signs of da-
mages that could compromise the efficiency of the structure
and have them rectified, if necessary, by an authorised ser-
vice centre of Dieci or by a workshop regularly registered c/o
the Chamber of Commerce.

The manufacturer is not liable for unauthorised jobs or jobs

carried out by unqualified personnel, or jobs that have not
been completed to perfection.

If the accessory is dismantled, keep it in a sheltered and dry

place, protected against atmospheric agents to prevent its
metal parts from rusting.
