Ranam Sugam

Ranam Sugam is a musical novelette by the band Paadhai that tells the story of a group of musicians pursuing their dream of performing with A.R. Rahman. It consists of 10 chapters that each correspond to a song on the attached DVD. The novelette explores everyday emotions like friendship, love, and ego through the characters' journey. Paadhai drew inspiration from their first unsuccessful attempt "Payanam" to create Ranam Sugam. They are now working on their second project called "Neon Nagaram" which is expected to release this year.

RANAM SUGAM- A MUSICAL NOVELETTE…

PAADHAI- A path joined by one thing in common and that is music.

Musica as usual joins lives.Shammeer,Suresh and Siva Kumar, all basically from technical
background had a quest that was in unison. The quest to achieve something they breathed
about.Success stories always start with failure and one such story was ‘Paadhai’s’. A digicam in hand and
that person with aspiration brings up a short film. The same applies to this band of musicians.

FOOTPRINTS OF PAADHAI…. BUT NOT ON SAND.

Their first attempt “Payanam” didn’t come out really well. When asked about it their
composers they answered undoubtedly ..’Only that lead us to Ranam Sugam ‘. Their success formula is
nothin more than “ Learn from your mistakes”.

Birth of their emotions:

Let me first explain you the idea of a musical novelette.paadhai calls it a ‘BookIsai’. The book revolves
around a band of guys who belong to their music band. Every musician’s dream is to play with
A.R.RAHMAN atleast once in their lifetime and so it is the dream of our heroes. They get geared up for a
competition where the winners get to perform with A.R.RAHMAN. And so starts their journe to chase
their dreams. Did they live their dream..? Check out the book for more.!

In the life’s long run, we get to meet different situations that make us hero for that moment.
And these situaions always evolve from our emotions like friendship, love,silence,ego etc. if you had
resolved that RS is only about music and dreams , then change it, it has more. The ones you and I face
everyday.

The book consists of 10 chapters with a mix of day-to-day emotions, and each one correspond
to a song. The book has lyrics of a song at the end of each chapter and the DVD attached with the book
has it in action. And that’s why it is rightly known as ‘BookIsai’. READ & LISTEN. Got it?

The lyrics have been done exceptionally well by Shammeer and Mahakavi Barathiyar. Yes
Bharathiyar is the lyricist for two tracks. And the best thing is they have specified it in the album cover.
The other lyrics have given fresh life to old emotions. You know what I mean. Emotions have been the
same since the world was born. At different eras they were expressed in different styles. This one being
the NexG, you can expect your words being voiced and your feelings being potrayed.

Now about the songs. They are cool. One song that will catch everyone’s attention will be “Neer
Ezhutha nee ‘.Its a talkathonand that will occur in almost every guy’s life. Their language is in sync with
every soul in the college, and so is their book. It is in track with the campus lingo.

JOURNEY INTO THE FUTURE

They are almost done with their second venture, “NEON NAGARAM”. This is high with soaring
expectations on either ends.
