complex highly integrated level of adult.

PRINCIPLES IN PEDIATIC NURSING
1) Respect the child’s need to regress and help him/her accept dependence
on others if he/she resists this: child is not like adult. He/she is different
from adult in various ways and respects. illness produces regression. He/she
will go back to the previous stages of development. A pre-schooler wants the
mother to carry him/her during sick ness or asks for use potty instead of
toilets. In such situations. The nurse should understand that it is the need of
the child. Understanding and friendly approach will help the nurse to solve
child problem and enable to help the child
2) Have to awareness of the child’s need for help in requiring the negative
counter part of the core problem in the stage of development to which
child has regressed; for example, infancy, trust vs mistrust, the negative
counter-part of the core problem (mistrust) is conquered through a mutually
satisfying mother-child relationship during early years, only family
members influences, but in later years, the society influences to reach a high
level of maturity. An understanding of human development and needs will
enable the nurse to be in a position to affect the child’s solution of his/her
problem. This will also help the nurse to empower parents or adults
concerned in the care of children as an expert.
3) Have to awareness of the child’s need for help in requiring the negative
counter part of the core problem in the stage of development to which
child has regressed: In order to protect the Childs growth potentials to the
fullest: Nurse should take into account the situation of the Childs parents
because they are the most important people concerning the child. The family
relationship influences the childs personality development to a great extent.
Mother expects some understanding behaviour and wants some relief from
tension. In such a situation, the nurse can help the mother in understanding
the problem of the child , which will enable to get relief from tension in a
certain extent. If the nurse can notice that the mother becomes more relaxed.
This will help to protest the family interpersonal relationship.
4) Awareness of the feelings of others: Readiness to respond to them so as to
strengthen their resources to cope up with stress is the major principle
underlying effective emotional support. emotional support becomes
paramount when illness [Link] is also paramount when a child or adult
faces a major change in their life situation.
5) Children can tolerate discomfort: if they are prepared for it, comprehend
its real purpose and are adequately prepared. Some of the childs fear can be
alleviated if preparation precedes experience. If you preparing child before a
painful treatment, it can provide a basis for the maintenance of trust. without
all persons concerned. To an older child, each step of the nurse should
explain only it is done.
6) To child, play is not time out from daily living rather an essential part of
it;
That enables child grow and mature through the various stages of the
[Link] an adult, play is recreation, taking timeout of daily routine of life for
enjoyment, where as for a child, play is essential as nourishment and treatment .play
helps the child to regain his/her independence gradually
7)Build a working relationship with the parents and their children from the time of
first contact .
8) Should be aware that all behaviors should be meaningful.
9)Should accept parents and their children exactly as they are.
10) Allow them to know that their problems are important, and the nurse is there to
aid in their [Link] an empathy for parents and children.
11) Willing to acknowledge the parents right to their own decisions
concerning their accident.
12)Allows the parents and the children to express their emotions, even
negative emotions
13) Ask questions limited to a single idea or reference
14)Speak a language understandable to the parent and children
15)Must help the parents to feel that there is unity among the health team.
