INTRODUCTION TO MINITAB
Introduction:
Minitab is a statistics package developed at the Pennsylvania State University by researchers
Barbara F. Ryan, Thomas A. Ryan, Jr., and Brian L. Joiner in 1972. Minitab, originally intended
as a tool for teaching statistics, is a general-purpose statistical software package designed for
easy interactive use. In the early 1980s, the use of Minitab expanded to academic institutions in
other countries and to business and industry. As students used Minitab in the classroom, the
software migrated with them into their careers. When organizations began adopting statistical
quality improvement methods in the late 1980s. Minitab is well suited for instructional
applications, but is also powerful enough to be used as a primary tool for analyzing research data

Objectives:
The main objective of this lab to know about the different features of the MINITAB software,
and how it can be used for solving a problem.

Procedure:
 To open MINITAB software so click directly on the software file, so it will open like
this.

Lab No: 01

 The window is at top is called “Session” window. In this window Minitab will give the
results of your analysis.
 This window below the Session window and it’s called the "Worksheet" .It is use for to
write or copy and paste the data.
 The third type of window is called a "Graphics" window.This type of windows only
appears when someone asked Minitab to plot the data. As shown in fig 2

There are different commonds which are used to analyse the data so the down FIG 3 is showing some
commonds.

 If we want to create a scatter plot of the data, just select Graph >> Histogram... >>
Simple. A standard Minitab dialog box will appear. In this dialog box provide the
location of data means variables and size, as shown in figure 4.

CONCLUSION:
The conclusion of this lab is we can easily plot the data on miniTAB and also its analyzing is easy.
