*EFFECTS
M: PHILIPPINES FESTIVALS HERITAGE OF OUR CULTURE,
TELL US MORE ABOUT IT KATRINA PEREA.
K: THANK YOU MICCO! YES WE FILIPINOS HAVE THE
CULTURE AND TRADITION TO CELEBRATE FESTIVALS. IT
WAS BROUGHT TO US BY THE SPAINRAIDS WHO
COLONIZED US IN 1521. AFTER WE ADAPT THE CULTURE
OF FESTIVALS, WE STARTED CELEBRATING IT. WE
CELEBRATE THEM FILIIPINO STYLE. EACH YEARR, EACH
MONTH WE CELEBRATE FESTIVALS, WE SHOW HONOR,
RESPECT, AND VALUE FOR WHAT HAVE COME FROM THE
PAST YEARS. SOME CELEBRATE BECAUSE OF THEIR
PATRON SAINT AND SOME CELEBRATE BECAUSE IT IS
THEIR FORM OF THANKS GIVING FOR A BOUNTIFUL
HARVEST. THAT’S ALL BACK TO YOU MICCO.
M: FUN FACT, DO YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE 42,000
FESTIVALS ESTIMATED IT IS BECAUSE, The Philippines
collectively celebrate over 42,000 festivals every year. Most local
Philippines festivities are religious or cultural with many festivals
honoring the local Catholic saint or historical periods of time in the
Philippines. AND DID YOU KNOW THAT PANAGGBENGA
FESTIVAL IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS FESTIVALS HERE
IN THE PHILIPPINES, YES TELL US SOME INTERESTING
FACTS BETWEEN THIS FESTIVAL KATRINA PEREA.
K: THANK YOU MICCO! Panagbenga Festival is a month-long
annual flower occasion occurring in Baguio. Sunflowers are
famous for their big, bright yellow flowers which face to the east at
sunrise and move the track to the west over the course of the day.
Other than that, the sunflower has gained more popularity when it
was chosen as the official logo of the Panagbenga festival. When
is the Panagbenga festival? IT IS CELEBRATED DURING THE
MONTH OF FEBUARY.
M: BUT WHY ARE THEY CELEBRATING IT KATRINA?
K: NICE QUESTION MICCO. The festival, held in February, was
created as a tribute to the city's flowers and as a way to rise up
from the devastation of the 1990 Luzon earthquake. The festival
includes floats that are covered mostly with flowers not unlike
those used in Pasadena's Rose Parade. PANAGBENGA IS A
LOCAL WORD WHICH IS USED TO DECIPT THE “SEASON OF
BLOOMING” BACK TO YOU
M: THANK YOU BEFORE WE END WE HAVE ASK SOME
STUDENTS ABOUT PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL.
K: SO HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL?
J: UHMM FOR ME PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL IS A
THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL BECAUSE OF THE BLOOMING
FLOWERS IN THAT SEASON, I CAN ALSO SAY THAT IT HAS
AN AMAZING PAST BECAUSE THIS FESTIVAL WAS
CREATED AFTER BAGUIO WAS HIT BY AN EARTHQUAKE
AND IT IS A SAYING FOR THE HOPE OF THE PEOPLE IN
BAGUIO CITY.
MC: PARA NAMAN PO SA AKIN IT IS A WONDERFUL
FESTIVAL BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT THE PEOPLE IN
BAGUIO, EVEN TRAGEDIES, CALAMITIES, AND ANY
PROBLEM BAGUIO CAN FACE WITH THE HELP OF
PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL. AND ALSO IT IS THE FESTIVAL
THAT TALKS ABOUT HOW THE SPIRIT WITH WHICH THE
CITY REHABILATESITSELF AND ITS BEAUTY IS A
REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT AFTER THE DEVASTATION.
M: DO YOU THINK CELEBRATING THIS PANAGBENGA
FESTIVAL IS GOOD OR A BAD THING?
JU: IN MY OPINION IT IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE AFTER
THE EARTHQUAKE PEOPLE IN BAGUIO DID NOT LOOSE
HOPE BUT RATHER THEY CLAIM A POSITIVITY.
A: FOR ME IT IS A GOOD THING AS WELL BECAUSE THE
TRAGEDY CAUSE THEM TO LOOSE A MINIMUIM AMOUNT
OF CROPS, HARVEST, AND AS WELL BLOOMING FLOWERS.
THEY CREATED THIS FESTIVAL SO THAT DURING A
TRAGEDY THEY WILL JUST LOOK UP AND SEE HOW THEY
SURVIVE THERE PAST DEVASTATION.
M: WOW LOOKS LIKE THESE STUDENTS REALLY KNOW
WHAT IS PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL.
K: I KNOW RIGHT.
M: ONCE AGAIN THESE HAS BEEN PBNB, I AM MICCO
MAGPANTAY.
K: AND I AM KATRINA PEREA
M: THIS IS THE WORD YOU KNOW THE NEWS YOU NEED
THIS HAS BEEN PBNB NOW SIGNING OFF THANK YOU AND
GOODBYE.
