Motion to Ban Vape and E-Cigarette Products
The debate on the vape ban is a trending issue at this present time. It is reported that over
20 countries have banned the sale of e-cigarette products. Their primary reason is due to the
sickness it can cause. Despite numerous studies showing the negative effects of vaping, people
still patronize e-cigarette products. Hence, in this speech, I will be providing points on why
vaping should be prohibited. Furthermore, my first point would tackle the lung-related risks of
vaping, the second point would be about its physical drawbacks, and the last point would be
about its secondhand vapor. Due to these reasons, I strongly agree to the ban of the use of vape
and the selling of all the e-cigarette products in the Philippines.
The first point on why vaping should be banned is the lung-related risk it can cause. As
reported by Denise Grady, vitamin E acetate has been identified as the cause of lung injuries
related to vaping THC. Through these, it can be seen how vaping can cause many health
illnesses, especially on the lungs. These illnesses are very concerning for it endangers the lives of
many people. For this reason, concerning the welfare of the people, actions by the Supreme
Court on vape ban is earnestly sought.
My second point would be about the physical effects e-cigarette products can induce to
an individual’s body. In 2018, NAP reported that there is substantial evidence that vaping causes
cell dysfunction, oxidative stress, and damage to DNA. Expanding on that idea, it was also found
these evidences have been associated to cancer development over the long term. Vaping does not
only affect the lungs, but also to the physical aspect of an individual. Consequently, the
government must let the public know the risks of vaping for the people might be unaware of it.
My final point will tackle the secondhand vapor emitted by vape and e-cigarettes. It is
said that vape’s secondhand vapor is less dangerous compared to secondhand smoke caused by
cigarette. Nevertheless, secondhand vapor still poses health risks to the people around the vaper.
Elaborating on that idea, it is found that secondhand vapor carries nicotine, a chemical that can
harm adolescent brain development, at concentrations that are above recommended levels.
Vaping, does not only risks the health of the vaper, but also to the people around. Hence, the
officials consider those who’re endangered even though they are not a vape user.
Therefore, the government must pay attention to the exigency of the banning of vape and
other e-cigarette products because of the negative impact it causes to the public. Firstly, vaping
has vitamin E acetate that causes lung injuries. Second, it has detrimental effects on the
individual’s physical aspect because of the possibility of cellular changes. Lastly, secondhand
vapor poses health risks that are dangerous to the people around the vape user due to the
nicotine. To close this motion, I strongly agree to the banning of vape and other e-cigarette
products for it imperil the well-being of the public. Henceforth, the government’s action
regarding this matter is earnestly sought.
