1- p.20 writing – Part 1

There are vast amounts of stuff that are being thrown

away every year. For us mere humans it doesn’t seem like
a big deal but have you ever wonder what a detriment it
has to wildlife.

For example most products and foods that we purchase

from the stores come in packaging and on top of that we
use plastic bags to carry them around. Although things
such as old newspapers, biodegradable food and to some
extent plastic products can be recycled you shouldn’t get
your hopes up because most of them just end up at a
wasteland simply because it’s cheaper and easier for the
companies that are to dispose of them. However, when
objects with a high content of chemicals gets either to the
soil or a famished wild animal, they can cause a great deal
of damage.

The need or updating to the newest model of an electronic

device is something we borne since the day of our birth. For
instance, the modern human being is constantly beguiled by
the non stop advertising and commercials that surround us.
However, have you ever thought about what happens with the
outdated technology that we dispose of after probably keeping
it in a cupboard for a couple of years. When discarded
electronics often end up in landfills or are incinerated, which
can cause major environmental problems, as they are made up
of extremely hazardous materials such as lead, mercury and
cadmium.
To sum things up almost everything humanity produces
and purchases is to cause harm to the environment,
wildlife and marine life, once being left to rot in a
junkyard. Although the government and citizens are doing
their best to make things better, it will take a very long
time to even get close to fixing all the problems we’ve
caused to our planet for all the years we’ve been
inhabiting it. Which shouldn’t be demotivate but stimulate
you to give it your all to improve the state of the
environment in the future.

Part 2 - Question 4 – article

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Get a taste of Lion King
in real life

Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most famous wildlife

destinations. The picturesque aesthetic of this place is
simply unmatchable and fills your soul with streaks of joy
and overwhelming sense of calm. Once you step foot on
the dry grass and look around the view fills your soul with
excitement. The number of different exotic animals that
we only see in zoos and the unusual vegetation that is new
to us such as the Baobab trees is simply fazing. It is
definitely a place worth paying a visit.
Various activities
The place offers three types of safaris, by car, walking
and canoe safaris. Since I’ve went on all three of them I
would really recommend the Mokoro trip which is a tour
along one of the rivers, on a canoe. On all three of them
you’ll be able to gaze along the distance and contemplate
the way creatures live and behave in the wild.

Right time to visit

I’d say the best time to visit this reserve is between July
and October, if you’re keen on wildlife viewing. The days
are long and the nights are short which extends the time
of your everyday activities. During this period you can get
very close to the animals and cherish magnificent sunsets
that shine like a wildfire upon the savanna.

Getting close to nature

There are many sanctuaries that keep and raise baby
animals that were orphaned for various reasons. During
your stay in Africa you can reach out to such center and
ask to be a volunteer. This allows you to get in touch with
lion cubs, baby zebras etc. Although you might be a little
scared at first, trust me it only gets better. Encountering
such exotic to us animals and caring for them is an
unforgettable experience that I’ll cherish for the rest of my
life.

Summing things up I’ve got to admit that my trip to Africa

definitely had an impact on me and my life. I no longer
overlook articles about poaching and I even went to a few
riots, whose goal is to cease illegal hunting. I also learned
a lot about how these creatures function, which lead to
me buying and reading a lot of books. Overall everything I
saw and learned in Botswana was worth it and had great
influence on my day-to-day life.
