“A Walk to Remember”
A Walk To Remember is a romantic movie based on a novel by
Nicholas Sparks. It is a 2002 Warner Bros film that starred Mandy Moore
as the demure, religious student Jamie Sullivan and Shane West as the
popular but rebellious teen Landon Carter. The story is set in the small
town of Beaufort, North Carolina. The movie is a novel that deals with love,
compassion, and friendship.
This movie was your typical coming-of-age story where a bad boy
falls in love with good girl vice versa, but there was just something different
about this movie that sets it apart from the rest. The way they conveyed the
emotions in the story would really pierce through your heart. They were
successful in making the audience feel the way the characters are feeling.
Not to mention the storyline itself was quite phenomenal and how it shows
the highs and lows of a relationship and how no relationship is perfect. The
words were very heartfelt, the setting was simple, yet homey, and the
characters are extremely agreeable. Personally, A Walk to Remember was
touching, yet sometimes riveting, and is a movie that no one could ever
forget.
From watching the movie, I loved how the way they fell in love was
very believable; it wasn’t too predictable. They fell in love slowly and
realizing that they make each other happy and a better person. The way
the characters acted and the aura in the environment made it very
imaginable. I deeply loved how Nicholas Sparks brought this tale forward
and Adam Shankman for directing this film.
A Walk To Remember tells the love story between two people of
completely different worlds. Landon Carter, a 17-year-old high school
student, is known for being one of the school’s bad boys, while Jamie
Sullivan is the Church Minister’s daughter that wears old sweaters and
carries a Bible with her wherever she goes. At first, Landon wasn’t really
interested in Jamie because she was a goody-two-shoe and is typically not
his type. His perspective changes after spending more time with her. His
feelings towards her were confirmed during the school play where he was
mesmerized by Jamie’s beauty and voice in which he kissed her at the end
of the play. In which Jamie returns her feelings as well. Later in the story,
we find out that Jamie was diagnosed with Leukemia and their whole world
was turned upside down. Because of this, Landon proposes and they
immediately got married. The movie was filled with pain and sorrow after
the death of Jamie occurred, changing Landon’s life forever. Their story,
although filled with twists and turns, is unforgettable and shows that
through love and support, anyone can go through any obstacle that comes
forth.
A Walk To Remember was an absolutely incredible movie that kept
me at the edge of my seat. It perfectly showed how love can be
unpredictable but still manages to be so pure. Landon and Jamie come
from completely opposite sides, yet they are still able to build a love
stronger than anything imaginable. The plot, characters, and setting were
greatly depicted and every detail was able to join together to make the
movie as amazing as it is. The movie was wonderfully directed and written
and can be a perfect movie to watch with the people you love.
