Truss Bridge - Edu 214

The document discusses a student's experience completing a project in Microsoft PowerPoint where they created a drawing of a truss bridge. The student learned how to rotate objects in PowerPoint. They reflect that the project was straightforward and allowed them to use their creative skills. Truss Bridge

What you learned: This project was actually fun. I am not too familiar with Microsoft

PowerPoint because I have always used Google Slides, but it was pretty similar. I was having a

bit of trouble figuring out how to flip the lines that I made but I ended up figuring out how to do

it. All I had to do was click the rotate button and it allowed me to flip and rotate the shape I

made. I had no other issues with this project. It was simple and straight to the point.

ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S Addressed:

Standard # 1a: articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging

technology to achieve them, and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning

outcomes.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: I think that this is a great project for students to

use their creative skills. Instead of having students do projects on paper, I can give them the

option to use the PowerPoint format. I want to teach government, so I can use this for an

assignment about the three branches of government. They can design a symbol or drawing that

represents each individual branch. This will allow them to be as creative as they want and will

also help them memorize each branch’s job better. It will also allow them to connect their work

to real world situations. After the students finish their drawings, I will assign them to use the text

tool to write a summary of what the branch does in their own words.
