B. DEFINISI SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Simple Present Tense adalah bentuk tense yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan sesuatu yang
terjadi saat ini (present) pada suatu spesifik waktu. Karena terjadi pada waktu sekarang, maka
pasti menggunakan kata kerja pertama (verb 1) dalam susunan kalimatnya.

E. CONTOH SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Smple present affirmative
S + Verb 1 / Verb dasar / to be (is, am , are) + O
Contoh kalimat:
“I read this novel every day.”
“He cries every night since his dog died.”
Simple present interrogative
Do / Does + S + Verb 1 + O
Contoh kalimat:
“Do you think he’s mad at me?”
“Does he read the instructions?”
Simple present negative
S + Don’t / Doesn’t + Verb 1 + O atau S + to be (is, am, are) + not + O (untuk kata kerja /
verb berbentuk to be)
Contoh kalimat:
“I don’t think she gets the letter.”
“He doesn’t come last night.”

Present continuous tense atau present progressive tense adalah bentuk kata kerja
yang digunakan untuk menyatakan aksi yang sedang berlangsung sekarang (present)
atau rencana di masa depan (future).

5. We are baking some bread. (Kami sedang memanggang roti).
Contoh Kalimat Negatif
1. She is not wearing a seat belt. (Dia (cewek) tidak sedang mengenakan sabuk
pengaman).
2. They are not listening to you. (Mereka tidak sedang menyimak kamu).
3. He is not yelling at me. (Dia (cowok) tidak sedang teriak dengan saya).
4. We are not either whispering or speaking. (Kami tidak sedang berbisik atau
berbicara).
5. I am not smoking. (Saya tidak sedang merokok).

1. Are you eating my chocolate? (Apakah kamu sedang makan coklat saya?
2. Is she taking a bath now? (Apakah dia (cewek) sedang mandi sekarang?
3. Are they watching soccer at the moment? (Apakah mereka sedang menonton
pertandingan sepak bola saat ini?
