PROFILE

COMPANY PROFILE :
The idea of starting EDU-TECH, an online education providing company came up
because; For millions of people around the world, the choice is not between attending
traditional university & online courses, between hearing a person in lecture in-person
& watching one online. As Princeton professor Mitch Dunier said in a recent op-ed
on chronicle of Higher Education, for many students, the choice is between online
education and no education at all.

As Internet access improves globally, online education is becoming a very real

solution for students who might not have the prior experience needed to entroll in
local colleges, who can’t afford tuition, whose lifestyle does not permit them the
leisure to attend classes in person, or who can’t commute to schools far away from
home. According to an international Telecommunications Union report, on third of
the world’s population is online. Over the last five years, developing countries have
increased their share of the world’s total number of Internet users from 4% in 2006 to
62% in 2011.

As online education has rapidly developed in recent months, some have argued that
merely opening up access to higher education classes doesn’t translate into tangible
benefits for students – especially if students aren’t receiving official university credit
for courses taken, But giving some opportunity to take courses taught by top-tier
universities and professors strikes at the core of what learning is all about -- fostering
personal growth, creating career oppurtunities, spreading knowledge of important
topics, and developing bonda with other students.

There is some controversy regarding the extent to which online instruction is as

effective as face-to-face instruction. In September 201.0, the department of Education
issues a detailed report that conducts a meta-analysis of 4 published studies that
compare online and face-to-face learning. This analysis demonstrates convincingly
that online learning method are, on average, at least effective as face-to-face
learning. Further, hybrid methods, which involve both method of instruction, & is
being offered by our partner universities to many of their on-campus students using
our platform, are considerably more effective than either method alone.

PRODUCT/SERVICE DESCRIPTION
We are a social entrepreneurship company that partners with the top universities in
the country to offer courses online for anyone to take. We envision a future where the
top universities are educating not only thousands of students, but millions. Our
technology enables to widen the reach of education.
Through this, we hope to give everyone access to the world-class education that has
so far been available only to a select few. We want to empower people with
education that will improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the
communities they live in.

The major sources of revenue :

 Certification :The student pays a fees for certification of comp-letion or
adequate performance in the course which are available on the site.
 Sale of information to potential employers : For a fee, and with student
permission, access to a database containing information about students and
courses they have taken is sold to enterprises.
 Ads : Link-ups with various websites for advertising.

Services Offered :
 Certificate courses
 Free online lectures
 Platform for Industry Institute interaction A(i.e. internships, industry sponsored
projects)

Certificate Courses :
Certificate courses on Engineering topics of specific duration will be made available
on the site. These courses will be conducted by faculty from reputed institutes.
When a student enrolls for one of the course. He/she can watch lectures taught by
experienced professors, learn at his/her own place, test his/her knowledge. &
reinforce concepts through interactive exercises.
The course will resemble a real time semester that a student undertakes in his/her
college or university. There will be weekly homeworks& tutorials that have to be
submitted before the specified deadline. Multiple attempts will be allowed so that
onereally attempts to solve the problems by oneself without fear of losing marks.
Also a Mid semester test & End semester test will be conducted to assist long term
retention. Discussion forums will be formed where the students can post their doubt’s
to get instant feedback from fellow students or even their respective faculties. Based
on the homework, tutorials, Mid semester& End semester the student’s progress will
be monitored.
Certificates will be awarded to the participants on the successful completion of
course.
The certificates will bear the stamp of the college/university whose faculty was
assigned to teach the course. The students will be charged for the certificates
Delivery etc.

Free Online Lectures :

The certificate course material will be made available as free lectures on the site after
completion of the course. This will help those who are looking for only a particular
topic to resolve their doubt’s or those who just want to brush up their skills on certain
topics.
The lectures will be classified first according to the branch under which they (e.g.
electronics) & secondly as per the subject (e.g. Digital techniques) so that they can be
easily accessed by students.
In addition to the course material some other lectures will also be added to the
category.

Industry Institute Interaction :

Under this topic, we aim to provide a platform to develop & increase interaction
between the students & the industry. Today there is a huge gap between the
theoretical knowledge of the students & the actual practice required by the industry.
As a result of which the industries have to spend huge amounts on training the
students before actually assigning them with their job tasks. Our site aims to bridge
this gap.
For bridging trhe gap, we plan to have tie-ups with companies so that they can post
about available internships & their requirments. Also they can even post about
projects that they are interested in sponsoring so that interested students can apply.
This will serve as an useful resource to the students who otherwise don’t have any
idea as to how to proceed in the industry& also give the real time practical
experience.
MARKETING
STRATEGIES

DEMAND :

Today, most of the people use internet because, internet is a huge source of
information database. At the university as well as school levels, people are giving
priority to e-learning over the orthodox type of education methods. There are several
reasons for it.
Many a times people don’t have time to go to the university and study. They want to
attend lectures from the p-lace they are i.e. home, workplace, etc.
Also many a time, people have to travel far to reach the university. So it is tiresome
as well as time consuming for them.
Also if students get allotted for the university in another city, they have to look for
accomodation. Thus they have to get into the hostel or find some other place which
eventually is expensive.
Hence people are finding alternatives for this orthodox method of education. They
want to sit in front of the computer and learn the topics which they are going to learn
in class-room. Hence, we are giving them a viable alternative for the same.

the current and upcoming trends so as to alter our policies accordingly.
PRODUCTION
PROCESS

PRODUCTION PROCESS/SERVICE DELIVERY

TIME:

1) WEBSITE CODING, DESIGNING AND MAINTAINANCE

This includes building the core platform i.e. the main website that powers our
courses. The engineers will be required to build high quality web applications
that bring online courses to the students. As part of our small and agile team of
software engineers, they will be responsible for architecting and implementing
the front-end designs, and working with other members on the team to
integrate the application into our platform.
It will also include managing bug life cycles, writing tests for the JavaScript
heavy applications, and making sure our site accessibility equirements, and
also catching security vulnerablilities.
The designing team will solve design problems, understand user needs, and
help keep online learning simple. They will play a key role in shaping how
users interact with our courses, by designing delightful, intuitive flows, along
with beautiful graphics that bring them to life.

2) STRUCTURING, SOURCING AND INTEGRTION OF LECTURES

The lectures are intended to be organized into 10 to 20 minute segments,

linked thematically. Questions will be embedded in between the video lectures
that will lend them an element of interaction that provides students with
immediate feedback on their resources give students the option to work
through materials at their own pace.
The instructors will be allowed to attach resources to their video lectures,
including lecture slides and transcripts, videos to download, and subtitles.
These resources give students the option to work through materials at their
own place.

Exercises and assessments are central to our platform because they allow
students to practice concepts and test their knowledge, often with nearly
immediate feedback.
They will assist in grading of the students,

We currently plan to have four kinds of assessments :

 Standalone quizzes
 In-video quizzes
 Weekly homework and tutorials
 Mid-semester and End semester tests.

The respective faculty will be responsible for all course content, including
lecture materials, supplementary materials, and quizzes and tests. They will,
however, get assistance with video production. Course videos are typically 10-
20 minutes in length, but the number and frequency of the videos are up to the
faculty instructor. Faculty will have a videographer available to tape and edit
the content, upload the videos to the site, and help troubleshoot technical
issues. The format and location for each class are negotiable and will be
determined in consultation with the faculty.

The enterprise will sign a memorandum of understanding with the colleges.

The following will be the key points covered :

A. The college will register as an institute on the site.

B. The college will ask the undergraduate and graduate level students
pursuing engineering in any field to get registered on the portal and put
up the projects as individuals or group.
C. The college will allow using their logo for promotion of academic
projects on site.
D. The college will provide the link to our site on their portal.
E. The college will provide their stamp on the certificates issues to the
students.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC
CONSIDERATIONS

SOCIO-ECONOMIC ANALYSIS :
The main advantage of our site is that it will help to spread education breaking
geographical boundaries.

Online courses are less expensive than traditional courses and our site can help
students particularly if one is not financially or otherwise ready to pursue a full
degree program.

One can save money on travel, books, and possibly even food by living at home and
continuing your current lifestyle instead of paying extra to move to a campus or to
drive to one.

Also it will help students to interact with and learn from faculties at top level
colleges where they fail to secure admission because of cut-throat competition.

The free online lectures will serve as a boon to those seeking help on a particular
topic without having to pay anything. Also since the lectures are online they can be
accessed anytime, anywhere.

The lectures and courses will help those who are looking to study something
additional other than their regular course at college, might would not have taken
them up, unless they had been charged.

The internships and sponsored projects posted on the site will provide a direction to
the students for gaining practical knowledge in the industry who otherwise have no
idea about whom to approach.
FUTURE
PROSPECTS

FUTURE PLANS :

1. MORE UNIVERSITY TIE-UPS :

Tie-ups with some major schools of research and centres of excellence will be
a great benefit for us. If we start our business with 2 or 3 universities by
providing service to them, we can expand our business. We can tie-up with
more universities to increase the contacts and profits. We can add more
streams and can increase number of courses to enhance the access. Thus we
maximize oppurtunities for all learners by providing flexible and accessible
