OBE Workshop

This document provides an overview of the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) system for assessing student learning outcomes at the course, program, and degree level. It discusses Bloom's Taxonomy for classifying learning objectives, how to create course learning outcomes (CLOs) mapped to program learning outcomes (PLOs), methods for evaluating student achievement of CLOs and PLOs, compiling assessment results, and using the results for continuous improvement. The goal is to help workshop participants understand and implement the key aspects of OBE for assessing and enhancing student learning.

Program Educational Objectives
(PEOs)

• PEO 1: Address broad spectrum technology problems as

dexterous technologist. (PLO-1 to PLO-5)
• PEO 2: Enhance professional competence by acquiring latest
techniques and improving their skills for solving technical
problems of the society. (PLO-5 & PLO-12)
• PEO 3: Possess necessary leadership and communication skills
in a multi-disciplinary environment. (PLO-9 to PLO-11)
• PEO 4: Exhibit ethical and respect cultural values in order to
demonstrate commitment to their responsibility toward
sustainability and safety of society and environment. (PLO-6 to
PLO-8) 4
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
At the time of graduation, the graduate must be able to have:

Note: Each student has to achieve passing score in each PLO

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

• CLO1: Summarize the knowledge related to basic concepts,

network laws and theorems used to analyze linear circuits.
• CLO2: Manipulate linear circuits using the network laws
and theorems.
• CLO3: Identify the behavior of energy storing elements and
their transient response.
• CLO4: Imitate the formation of different circuits using
Circuit Design Suite under the model Lab View 2015 and
NI Virtual Bench. 6

Making of CLOs
• Break the course outline in 3-4 meaningful chunks (CLOs).
• Decide their level with the help of Blooms Taxonomy table.
• Try to target specific keywords mentioned in the table.

• Examples:
• Summarize the knowledge related to basic concepts, network laws and theorems used to
analyze linear circuits. (C1)
• Manipulate linear circuits using the network laws and theorems. (C3)
• Identify the behavior of energy storing elements and their transient response. (C1)
• Imitate the formation of different circuits using Circuit Design Suite under the model Lab
View 2015 and NI Virtual Bench. (P5)
• Trace the characteristics of single phase and three phase transformer in different conditions14
using EES equipment. (P3)
